Windows 10: Older Programs Working On Windows 10

Will an older version of Photoscape work on Windows 10, without messing Windows 10 up? It's the only version that I'm use to. I tried Photoscape X, but I cannot use it, because it doesn't have the features that I'm use to. When I bring the older version of Photoscape up, it looks distorted, and is not clear at all.


Also, after running Photoscape & Smart Defrag on my computer, last night, my computer kind of crashed, and the desktop looked like Windows 7. I had to reboot it, in order for it to get Windows 10 back on to it. So, I'm not sure which program caused that.


Any help will surely be appreciated.

Before we assist further, which is the “older program” you are referring to in the above description?



I suggest you to install the program in Compatibility mode by following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.



Compatibility mode runs the program in the current version of Windows using the settings from previous version of Windows.



Step 1: Install the device drivers manually in
Compatibility mode.

  Locate and right-click on the program setup file downloaded/saved on the PC and select
  Properties from the context menu.
  
• 
  Click on the compatibility tab, check the box
  Run this program in compatibility mode for, select Windows 8.1/7 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation.

  After the installation is complete, restart the computer and check if the changes are effective.
  

Step 2: You can also follow the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

  Press Windows logo key on the keyboard and type
  Run programs made for previous versions of Windows.
  
• 
  Select the top most search result and follow from

  Check if the changes are effective.

How to make older programs work in Windows 10 -

It is possible that the programs are not compatible with Windows 10. I would suggest you to follow the methods below and check the status of the program.

Method 1: Run Program Compatibility Troubleshooter.

1. Press
Windows key on the keyboard

2. Type
Troubleshooting and click Troubleshooting

3. Click
view all (on the left)

4. Select Program Compatibility Troubleshooter

5. Follow the prompted steps to troubleshoot this issue.

Method 2: Install the program in compatibility mode.

You may try to install the programs in compatibility mode:

• Right click on setup file.
• Click on Properties.
• Click on Compatibility tab.
• Put a check mark on Run this program in compatibility mode for.
• Select Windows 7/8.
• Put a check mark on Run this program as an administrator under
  Privilege Level.
