  2. On boot up unknown icon appears

When I boot up my laptop an icon appears at the end of my taskbar. It quickly disappears. It seems like it might connect someone to my laptop. I say this because I see unknown devices on my network. I've seen a Linux PC, an Apple device which I don't use. Also a hidden network.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Sherian -

Thanks for the response and I do apologize on the delayed on mine.

If the icon no longer shows on your computer during boot then it means that it is a service running on the background of your windows during windows boot. You don't need to turn the services back on as they will automatically turn on when triggered. If you undo the changes, the icon might appear again.

As for the hidden network, it seems to be a Wi-Fi connection that the computer detected. If it is a Wi-Fi or a hotspot, then windows will automatically detect it and as long as you don't connect to that network, then the computer will be fine.

    Regards,

    Hi Sherian -

I'm Kevin B., I do apologize for the inconvenience that you're experiencing right now, let me help you sort things out.

When did the issue started? Are there any recent changes made on the computer before the issue start?

Some applications produces startup items which sometimes flashes on the screen during startup. Kindly try to follow the steps below and check if it helps

    Perform Clean Boot

    - This process will eliminate 3rd party application running in the background of your computer along with services that are not needed to run windows. If there's any conflicting 3rd party application that causes the issue on your computer, this process will stop it.

    1. Open the run box by pressing the Windows Key + R and type msconfig

    2. System Configuration Utility box will open and by default you are on general tab.

    3. On the General tab, click the selective startup and make sure that load system service and load startup items both have checked mark.

    4. Click on services tab

    5. Put a check mark on Hide All Microsoft Services > This is a very important part as if you miss to click on this, computer might not boot properly or permanently and will end up on clean installation.

    6. Once Hide all Microsoft Services have checked mark on it, click on Disable All

    7. Click on the Startup Tab and click open task manager. This will open another window which contains all your startup applications on the administrator account.

    8. Disable all application that you're not using. You can simply just click on them and select disable.

    9. Click OK , Apply and close the configuration utility

Restart the computer normally and check if the same icon appears on your windows.

If the icon appears, kindly take a screenshot of it and post it on your next response

Regarding on the icons on your network, if you didn't recognize those icon, you can always remove them from your network.

Hope this will help and have a bless day!
