    Missing directory

    I feel like some information in the original post was missed. The image shows that the top level directories of drive E: are shown and listed in alphabetical order. E:\Bryan is not shown.

    The option for hidden files is set to show them. Its not shown. The search box of Windows Explorer was used to search for Bryan. One of the discoveries is:

    "E:\Bryan\Garmin\Bryan"

    That was obtained by using the "Copy as path" option and pasting into a notepad window.

    That shows that E:\Bryan does indeed exist. Again, that directory is not shown. Some of its subdirectories are found, but the top level is not displayed.

    From the command line I did

    xcopy E:\Bryan G:Bryan (and a bunch of options)

    and it succeeded. That new directory can be accessed and shows up in Windows Explorer.

    What might I have done to cause this problem? So I don't do it again. I am quite certain I did not do a delete on it.

    How should I deal with the detectable but practically unusable directory? Should I delete it? Do I need to shred it or use some utility for secure delete before the saved directory is copied back from the G drive? If so, please suggest a well known product for doing such a deletion.

    And now that I think about it for a bit, this is not the first time a directory has simply disappeared. It would be nice to know what I might have done wrong.
