Windows 10: On installing Microsoft security update KB5014699, mobile hotspot is not working, any solution?

Microsoft has a recent update numbered KB5014699. After the update, on turning on mobile hotspot, internet on mobile works however internet does not works on laptop.

Windows 10 Mobile Hotspot Not working

Hi,

Your Bluetooth connection may be enabled which prevents you from setting up your mobile hotspot. To have this addressed, we suggest turning off the Bluetooth connection and see if you're able to set up your mobile hotspot. Follow these steps:

• Open Settings and select Devices.
• Click Bluetooth, then toggle it OFF.

Once done, check if you can now turn on your computer's mobile hotspot. Let us know how it goes.

We appreciate that you have tried the suggested steps above. Have you tried to connect other devices to the mobile hotspot on your PC?

Since the issue is still the same, we suggest that you uninstall/reinstall the network adapter driver and check if this will resolve the issue. Follow the steps below:

• 
  Press Windows key + X and click on
  Device manager.
  
• 
  Locate for Network adaptor and click on it expand it.
  
• 
  Right click on the device and click on
  uninstall.
  
• 
  Once you are done uninstalling the driver, restart the computer. It will automatically install the generic network adapter driver.
  

We can also update the network adapter driver. Skip step 3 from the above steps and right click on the device and click on update.

Security Update KB4048954 causes Mobile Hotspot to stop working

Hello,

I figured out what was causing my mobile hotspot to fail.

Prior to the KB4048954 download, I had previous installed Connectify.me to set up my hotspot. However, after installing it, I realized that Windows 10 had a very, very easy set up of the hotspot functionality. So I then UNINSTALLED the Connectify.me software.

After the uninstall of Connectify.me, my Windows 10 Mobile Hotspot worked perfectly....UNTIL that KB4048954 was automatically downloaded from Microsoft. After the download, the hotspot would show connecting but never launch, or if attempted to start the
hotspot through Settings, it would completely lock up Settings.

After working on this issue for hours I finally found out the the Connectify.me program 'appeared' to be uninstalled, however, all the registry entries were still there. I went thru "Regedit" and manually removed every entry regarding Connectify.me. Rebooted,
and my Mobile Hotspot worked again!

Connectify.me had not uninstalled properly.
