Windows 10: On my Windows 10 laptop, I can get into UEFI but cannot find out how to get in to BIOS

Hi thereOn my Windows 10 Samsung laptop, I can get into UEFI but cannot find out how to get into BIOS. I tried F2, ESC, and holding shift, but cannot figure out how to get into BIOS.Any help will be appreciated.Thanks.

Windows 10 UEFI BIOS

I am trying to duel boot my windows 10 laptop with linux mint. I have a Live CD of linux, but to load it I need to disable Secure Boot, which I can only do if I enter legacy mode in my BIOS. When I do this, the BIOS no longer seems to see windows at all,
the windows boot loader is removed from the bootable medium list. I can get back into windows if I revert to UEFI mode, but I don't understand why I can't load windows 10 from legacy mode, is there any way to do this?

 

Should I change BIOS Mode to UEFI?

I would like to dual boot Win 10 (20H2, Build 19042.804) with Ubuntu on my Dell Inspiron 7520. When I open "System Information" I see Bios Mode Legacy. And when I run bcedit from the command line I get: "path \Windows\system32\winload.exe". So I think this means I am using Legacy BIOS. I also ran diskpart and list disk and confirm that my disks are not partitioned in GPT so I guess they must be MBR.

There are instructions here about setting up the dual boot and it talks about needing UEFI. Is it possible to update my laptop to use UEFI? Or maybe I don't need to?

I find all this very confusing! There are instructions about Converting Windows 10 from Legacy BIOS to UEFI and it says that you must have UEFI firmware (BIOS) enabled.

I have the Dell BIOS firmware A04 on my laptop but when I hit F12 on boot up I don't see any mention of UEFI in the BIOS screens. How do I enable UEFI firmware on my laptop? Is that my first step?

Windows fails to detect UEFI BIOS, assumes Legacy instead

Due to some string of events, my computer has quick boot enabled in BIOS. I need to load UEFI to change some things, and am unable to because this setting is enabled. I assumed there was a way to reboot into UEFI from inside Windows 10, so I looked up how
and found the answer: There is an option in the "Advanced startup" menus to do this. Unfortunately, this option seems to be hidden if Windows 10 erroneously detects that you are using legacy BIOS instead of UEFI. This appears to be the case in my current install
(in MSINFO the BIOS Mode is set to Legacy).

My questions are:

• How do I change BIOS Mode to UEFI in my current install?
• How do I make sure this remains the case in future OS resets/reformats?
• Similarly, when building other computers in the future, how do I make sure Windows 10 does not make this same error?

My questions are not:

• How do I access my BIOS despite Windows 10 misidentifying my BIOS Mode?
