Windows 10: On resume from sleep wireless mouse buttons not working properly windows 11....

When the machine wakes up the cursor moves but the left and right mouse buttons don't do what they should i.e. clicking the left button doesn't start a programme from the taskbar or highlight a shortcut on the desktop.This is really annoying and I'm not alone, a thread was started back in 2021 about this but nobody came up with a solution and it was 'arbitrarily 'locked' without being resolved a few people as usual guessed at some silly solutions and several more suggest solutions to different problems! as usual but no real solution. This needs to be sorted by Microsoft not left to a bun

Wireless Mouse doesn't work properly

The different mouse that I tested on this works perfectly, but unfortunately, the mouse I used originally that I tested on the other computer, didn't work properly, just the buttons.

So, I bet that I'll either use the new mouse, which gets uncomfortable, because it's meant to be hidden in the computer via USB... Or, I buy a different mouse. Or, find the solution to the original problem..

 

Resume from sleep by mouse sometimes works, sometimes not

So since resume from sleep was introduced (perhaps 1990s), it always has had it share of problems. Now, on my Windows 10 system sleep and resume from sleep work as I want, except sometimes resume does not work.

I have tried to pinpoint the cause for it, but I have no idea what the cause is. I have my Logitech mouse triggering the sleep by mouse click. But sometimes it does nothing.

For example this happened:
- powercfg.cpl: "Put the computer to sleep: 1 minute", now let it pass = sleep, mouse click, resume, no problem.
- powercfg.cpl: "Put the computer to sleep: 2 hours" is my normal. Now I do whatever normal stuff on the computer. I forget to switch it off at night. In the morning I return to the computer, it's sleeping. I click the mouse. Nothing happens. I have to press the power switch, now it resumes normally.

Looking at Event Viewer, it seems that in both cases the computer went to sleep the same way. There is probably a logical explanation to this, but what can it be? Any ideas?

• Outdated device driver
• No device driver installed
• Faulty wireless mouse receiver

• Have you tried using using your wireless mouse on other computer and checked if the issue persists?
• Have you tried updating your wireless mouse driver?
