On the Intel EGS platformunder disabled VMD and Windows server 2022, inserting an NVMe drive e.g., Samsung PM9A3, Solidigm P5520/PS1010 into a vacant slot on the server backplane results in the system failing to identify the drive.In the Windows system's device manager, under storage controllers, a yellow-marked NVMe controller will be added.Re-plugging the drive does not resolve the issue. The vacant slot on the backplane refers to a slot where no NVMe drive was present before the server was powered on and entered the system.The Windows Server 2022 build version we installed is 20348.887,

Intel VMD problem in startup

Hello

I have recently installed win 11 pro 64 and before installing i turned off intel VMD in bios. Now that the Windows is installed i came back and turned on VMD but in startup after the logo the Blue Screen (inaccessible boot device) appears and restarts and so on. What should i do? Is it okay to leave VMD disabled?

P.S: i turned off VMD because the "can't load media drivers" error

I have a Lenovo laptop with intel 11 gen processor . I installed windows after disabling VMD in bios. but now I want to enable it. if there is a way I can enable VMD and solve windows blue screen without reinstalling windows ?

 

Windows 11 Installation Samsung SSD 980 NVMe

Hi,

I have recently bought new PC components but faced weird issue. I am already working on it for 2 days and read most threads online. None of the instructions helped. So I am coming up to you so maybe you could give some hints.

The issue: upon installation of Windows 11 downloaded from Microsoft and used their service (not rufus) for creating bootable usb the error message on the first step is that I am missing drivers. Although it is being said that these drives don’t have specific drivers from Samsung and are supposed to run on windows built-in drivers.

The interesting fact is also that drives are visible in BIOS and able to configure from “discpart” so I have already converted the to GPT, created partition and formatted with NTFS with no results.

I have also downloaded drivers from both Intel website and GIGABYTE for IRT and VMD but none were working.

PC SPEC:

• Intel i7 14700kf
  
• Gigabyte z790 ud 1.0
  
• Samsung SSD 980 NVMe M.2 SSD (slots: M2A, M2Q)
  
• BIOS VER: F10A
  

BIOS config:

• VMD - disabled
  
• CFG Lock - disabled
  
• CSM support - disabled
  
• Windows 10 Features - Other OS
  
• Secure Boot - Disabled
