Windows 10: On Windows 11, my external monitors won't wake up after they have been turned off

Hi all, I have a Surface Laptop 5 and typically use two external monitors - connected via USB-C and therefore the laptop is always plugged in.My monitors go to sleep which I want after a few minutes of inaction. When I come back and move the mouse or hit a keyboard key, many many times only one of the monitors turns back on. The other remains shut off. Any ideas on why this might be case? This is not due to the laptop going to sleep, it remains turned on the entire time. Here some further information:

Windows defender is turned off and won`t turn back on

Windows defender on windows 10 enterprise won`t turn on. This happened shortly after i updated it; when I try to turn it on it says:

This app has been turned off and it isn't monitoring your computer.

And right underneath it, it says:

If you are using another app for malicious and unwanted software use Security and Maintenance to check that app`s status.

Need for a response ASAP, thanks

 

Monitor will not wake from sleep

When my PC wakes from sleep it always used to wake the monitor as well but now when the PC wakes the monitor does not respond. The only way to solve the problem is to do a hard reset of the PC. The PC is definitely waking from sleep. it is just the monitor.

I have read multiple forums trying to find a solution but nothing seems to work. things I have tried:

• updating BIOS
  
• restoring Windows
  
• running Windows Update
  
• trying a different monitor
  
• checking monitor settings
  
• turning off Fast Startup
  
• Running Troubleshooter Power
  
• turning off Link State Power Management
  
• Restarting in Safe Mode
  
• Updating and Rolling Back the display adaptor
  
• checking that keyboard and mouse can wake the PC
  
• probably a few more that I have forgotten
