  1. On Windows 11 Pro computer, Start Menu is available after a new login, but stops responding...

When it is not available, it's a hassle to start programs if they aren't pinned to the taskbar, and I have to use Ctrl+Alt+Del to get to a Lock screen or restart. It's a pain.It is not related to the taskbar, the taskbar doesn't disappear. It is simply the start menu does not pop out when the icon is clicked, or when the designated key on the keyboard is clicked. It happens at some point after the computer has been active. Is there a way I can check a log to see if it happens after a particular app starts? It's really annoying, and I haven't seen any other help that addresses this specific

    :)

Slow login and Start Menu not responding

Hello. I have a problem with my laptop.

I noticed I had a SYSTEM Z drive and following the advice by a Microsoft member, I changed my permissions through "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object".

Next i ran defender and found something in quarantine called "brolo", or at least that was the only memorable part of the quarantined file. I noticed at the same time the general speed went way down, to the point where clicking on one thing in the Task
Manager left it non-responding. I restarted the computer as defender suggested.

The first thing I noticed was that my laptop had a very slow login. The start bar wasn't responding, neither was the window key. I used task manager to restart Windows Explorer only to have the start bar stop responding again. I must say again - it appears
that everything else works - with the exception of the start bar. I can check my files on Windows Explorer and with the exception of time updating and applications appearing on the bottom right of the start bar i cannot click on them, or interact with cortana,
or click on the start menu, or even use the windows key.

Please help, this is a brilliant and new laptop and I've had no problems with Windows 10 until now.

  3. Microsoft Will Soon Bring Back The Start Menu In Windows 8.1

I'm picturing the typical Start menu, except with numerous side tree arrows for everything listed in it to accommodate their new app heavy menu trend. They're going to keep their sticky fingers in it somehow you just know.

I spent quite a bit of time updating my neighbor's W8 equipped laptop the other day just to finally install the lengthy 3.6GB 8.1 update on it to be able to get the boot to desktop option in the new taskbar Navigation tab. Then I was shocked that 8.1 would not let me install it without using a password login. So I remove the password login via the account settings, only to find you have to as well disable it in the power options for hibernate if you want to be completely free of it.

MS try and force FAR too many options on us for an OS that is more software compatible than any other.

Start menu is not working on Windows 10

    Hi,

Iunderstand the frustration if things are not working fine as expected.

Please help us with below details,

            • When you say "If I sign in under my user name I am in some earlier version", which version you are referring to?

            • Did you made any recent changes to your computer prior to the issue?

            • When you say “I cannot access the start menu and am limited to IP as a browser” Is it refers to Microsoft Edge?

As an initial steps, I suggest you to check for the Windows version. To do so, follow the below steps:

    1) Login to your computer through user name on which it show earlier version of Windows.

    2) Press Windows key + r.

    3) Type winver, hit enter.

For the issue related to start menu, I suggest you to refer to the below Microsoft help article and check,

Reply with results and necessary information to help you further.

    Thank you.
