Windows 10: One computer cannot access other network computers.

Discus and support One computer cannot access other network computers. in Windows 10 Network and Sharing to solve the problem; No idea, whether it applies to you. I had problems with access to shared folders between two W10 PC's. Both PC's work with administrator account.... Discussion in 'Windows 10 Network and Sharing' started by taward, Apr 4, 2016.

One computer cannot access other network computers.

I don't think that's the right solution. I have three W10 machines on he network. Two of them can see and access each other fine. Those two can also see and access my sp4 fine. My sp4 can also see them both but can only access via ip. A new user does not seem to fit this scenario.

It should also be noted that two of the machines, including the sp4, have the same exact msft account and are both admins on their respective machines. One of the machines, not the sp4, also has multiple users and all of the above symptoms persist.

This seems like something very specific to and deeply buried in my sp4.

    Thoughts?

For what it is worth I eventually resolved this with two system restores... but now I live in fear that windows is going to update itself to $%#&&^*

I'm avoiding the scorched earth solution...for now I just don't really have the patience for that.

I possibly wasted 6 hours trying to fix this... the system restore is not quite scorched earth although there are a few things I need to reinstall... it is better than a complete reinstall of windows... although as I say... I might end up back at square one with some malicious wupdate

Maybe I wait until after the anniversary update. Maybe that shakes something loose (or breaks something else entirely).

Something that has helped me share in Win 10 is to have the same user name and password on all PCs. I have 4 desktops and one lap top and I'm able to see all shared folders from all machines. If I change one user name/password then I have problems.
    Hope this helps.

I tried that. Two of the machines, including the sp4, have the same username and password.

One computer cannot access other network computers.

Have you compared the network setup screens on all of the machines to ensure that they are set up in exactly the same way?

As predicted, the anniversary update appears to have fixed it. Don't know how, don't care...until it breaks again.

Until next time kiddos. Thanks for the help!

Just pisses me off... no acknowledgement of an issue nothing....

This did prove to me how useless microsoft support is though... The first level support was better than the people she got me to phone cos the problem had gone beyond her scope... going on about domains etc not once even suggesting something to try, but getting ready to tell me to call another person when I hung up on them as useless.
