Windows 10: One Drive Causes issues with the Elderly

I wish it wouldn't reinstall itself because it causes confusion for the less tech savvy. They don't know what it does or what it is but it's prompting them for information. It's as annoying as drop box. Not a good look for you guys.

I now have to talk them through disabling it.

Optical Drive Issue

Hello Anak –

Appreciate your detailed return. Your added steps really helped.

Assuming I did the steps correctly, this is where I am now.

Screenshot 12 shows my CD Disc shortcut on my desktop.
Screenshot 10 shows the CD Drive shortcut listed in the “Send to” listing.
Screenshot 11 shows the “Send to” listing after the steps were taken, but the CD drive name is not listed.

So, it appears the steps did not work for me. And, I did try the steps, “If it still won’t do ……” and still no luck.

What do you think?

Let's stick to one topic and leave the emotional stuff aside. To print a picture from anywhere, do this:

1. Create a desktop shortcut for snippingtool.exe.
2. Drag it onto the Task Bar so that it is always easily accessible.
3. Click it on the Task Bar to open it.
4. Use your mouse to draw a frame around any screen area.
5. Click File, then Print.

Step 4 depends a bit on your version of Windows (which you did not state).

 

Hard drive/ OS issue

• reconnected HDD

• yay !!
