    One drive delete all file from it's original location after I forced to stop sync

    After Win11 24H2 - feature 1000.26100.36.0 update, one drive is not able to set ' all sync folder' unselected and "save', only close option is active., but close option is = do nothing. After i select only one empty to sync, the 'save' option is active and the one drive DELETE all file from the folders which I turned off sync, only leave a short cut to files been transferred to one drive sync folder. It make all of my project directory failed to work. I've noting to say about this update as well as the process in the one drive logic.

    :)

  2. Stop One Drive from syncing files

    To revert the shell folder locations to default, open OneDrive and do the following:

    Important: Before proceeding, copy the files in those special folders to another folder or external drive. Please don’t copy them anywhere under Desktop/Documents/Pictures. This is because disabling OneDrive backup for a folder erases the local copies of the files. Copying them to a different location beforehand will ensure that you don’t need to download them again from the OneDrive cloud.

    1. Right-click the OneDrive icon in the Notification area and click Settings.
    2. Select the Backup tab, and click Manage Backup
    3. In the Manage folder backup dialog, click on the Stop backup link under the special folder (Desktop, Documents, or Pictures)
    4. Click Stop backup in the confirmation dialog that appears.
    5. Repeat the step for each shell folder you want to revert to the original location.

    Is it possible to keep a record of the original location of a file?

    I will not rename any of the files at all, but I will create new folders, delete empty folders and move (i.e. cut and paste) files from one location to another. All I want is I can always have a record of the original locations of the files no matter how many times they have been moved (but I don't need a detailed record of where they have been once moved, that would be crazy if I did) For example, a file called A.mp4 is located at E:\Videos\Science_Experiment\ on day 1. Then it is moved around to different folders and after 100 days or even longer, it is located at E:\Temp\Biology\, I'll still be able to know that it was first located in Science_Experiment\. Of course, that will be even better if I can click to move all files back to their original locations but this is certainly not necessary. I will not likely do this. - - - Updated - - -
    In that case, do I always need double the capacity to make it because you are talking about creating backup image?

    How To Delete All OneDrive Files Without deleting Original Files on PC

    Hello Chris, welcome to the Microsoft community, I'll be happy to help you today;

    Initially I suggest that you stop syncing with these folders:

    Disclaimer: There are links to non-Microsoft sites. The pages appear to provide accurate and secure information. Watch out for ads on websites that may advertise products that are often classified as PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Goods). Thoroughly research any product advertised on the websites before deciding to download and install it.

    After stopping the sync the folders will return to their original location;

    Delete OneDrive files online;

    Access the link:Your request has been blocked. This could be due to several reasons.

    Log in to your Microsoft account;

    Now you can delete files from the cloud without them disappearing from your PC;

    Hope this helps, see you soon!
