So we use windows 10 and 365. We have a hybrid environment and have recently migrated our S drive to SharePoint. As the title says within our company when creating a shortcut within one drive when you next log in it will try to sync the whole site rather than just being a shortcut. The way I see it we have two potential solutions1. Fix the shortcut error Is there a solution to this sync or is it due to the whole frame work of the site as its only been recently migrated from the S:drive to SharePoint.2. Instead of shortcutting a whole site we dictate what sites they shortcut. Can we then set pe

  2. One Drive Sync Issues with Desktop Shortcuts

I am encountering an issue with One Drive syncing shortcuts placed in a folder on the desktop. This is occurring on a fresh install of Windows with all current updates applied. One drive indicates sync issues with the following message: "No access permissions
to the item. It appears that you do not have access permissions to the item. Ensure that you have the right permissions to allow the item to sync."

I found that by doing the following on every shortcut, I can get them to sync:

    • Right-click shortcut: Properties: Security: Advanced: Change permissions
    • Disable inheritance: convert inherited permissions into explicit permissions on this object
    • Enable inheritance: apply
    • New permission entries are added for SYSTEM, Administrators, and user account with inheritance from c:/users/[user account]
At this point the shortcut will sync. I can remove the four old permission entries with inheritance: none, or leave them there. it doesn't appear to make any difference.

It is obviously rather time consuming to have to do this for every shortcut created and put into a folder on the desktop.

Can someone identify what the root issue is and how it can be fixed without needing to edit permissions on each and every shortcut?

    Any help appreciated, thanks, Rob.

    Optical Drive Issue

    Hi Jerry, you're welcome.

Here's mine after I rt clk'd on my Documents Folder like you show in Scrsht 11:

One drive Shortcuts seems to try and sync the whole site. 264204d1579788485t-optical-drive-issue-send-.png

I'd like to wait until you reply to my question in Scrsht 12, if it is a remnant of the process try deleting the one on the dsktp and see if the one in send to also disappears. If it stays in send to, test it, and if you're still having problems I'd suggest you could go back to: Option One: To Add or Remove Items in Send To context menu for Your Account (current user) and do Step 3 to remove it and start over using Step 4 but be very careful of your steps in creating the shortcut and be sure you d&d that shortcut to the send to part of the address.

I'm busy today and I probably won't be back until the evening.

I would suggest you to try the following steps and check if that helps.

    • Go to the folder C:\Windows\System32 and sort by file type.
    • Look for the screensaver file type (.scr).
    • Find the file scrnsave.scr(you can choose any of the screensavers).
    • Right click and select send to>desktop (create shortcut). The shortcut on my attachment, but when i click on it my screen goes off and on and nothing else. One drive Shortcuts seems to try and sync the whole site. :)
