Windows 10: One Drive Synced and Deleted Hundreds of GBs of Files and Folders

I recently got a new computer and I freshly installed windows 10 on a new hard drive., and since it required a login I proceeded with it. I plugged in one of my hard drives with my old install of windows on it just so I could get all of my files back which were in the documents section, and OneDrive immediately started syncing all of them. I previously had OneDrive on an old laptop from 2019 and hadn't used it since, and as I went to retrieve my files I noticed that OneDrive DELETED all of my files and replaced it with the empty folders I had on my laptop since I removed all documents. Trouble deleting a folder

Thanks for the suggestion but it says "delete folder failed for E:\....." for each folder I try.

Will I be forever stuck with these unnecessary folders? *Oh Well hwell:

 

Software to monitor a folder, backup, then delete?

I still think its hard to beat using NTI shadow for something like this. Though what you need is to add one more sync folder to your scheme in order for it to delete files, remember it sync/backup, so have your pictures synched to computer is pretty easy, after its on your computer, sync it to another folder that moves the files in the original directory, then when the next sync run, it will see the directory empty and remove the files.

 

Unable to delete a folder - Invalid folder name


Suggestion:

1. Run chkdsk x: /r to make sure that there's no HD corruption.
   x: is the drive containing the folder you want to delete.
2. Try to delete the folder again. If still does not work, go to step 3.
3. Download: Download - Linux Mint and create a bootable USB using: Rufus - Create bootable USB
4. Boot up with Linux Mint and try to delete the folder again.
   NOTE: Unlike WinPE. Linux does not have any Windows permission imposed to it so it is easier to delete.
