    One Machine Turns On Another


    I have two machines connected to each other via LAN cable. Direct wire, not through router.
    One Desktop runs Win 7 64-bit Pro and the other Laptop runs Win 10 64-bit Pro.
    Each shares a specific folder with the other.
    Does it make sense that because of the connection one will turn on the other when the other was shut off?
    The Desktop was completely off, but turned on when the Laptop restarted.

    Can't write to shares on a Windows 10 machine from a Windows 7 machine

    I still get "You need permission to perform this action" from the Windows 7 machines if I try to write to a Windows 10 share after I made the above changes on the Windows 10 machine.

    Yeah, thats not a solution she is interested in......I've suggested that course of action. Thanks though.

    Just to clarify, I feel that there MUST be a step, or series of steps to turn off JUST the wireless notification sound. Thats what Im driving @ here.

    Hi,

    Thank you for the update.

    I suggest you to disable the SNMP option from Windows features and check if it helps.

    To do that please follow the steps below:

    • Type Windows feature in the search bar.
    • Open Turn windows feature On or Off.
    • Locate SNMP. Simple Network Management Protocol and Turn it off.
