    Did our Epson printer get hacked?

    It seems just about everyday our WP-4530 has one page with some strange ASCII type characters at the top. But today it had a page with the following message:
    "stackoverflowin/sthack the hacker god has returned - [link removed] - [link removed] - s/o BTI - your printer is part of a flaming botnet"

    Has our printer been hacked? I updated to the latest firmware. Any other steps you guys would recommend? I've contacted Epson printer support to see what they recommend as well.

    Wow. I searched on a few of those keywords and saw some things relevant to HP printers but not Epson. Really interested to see what you find out. I've got an Epson workforce printer myself.

    Hacking printers to start fires?

    the article states it's any internet connected printer, not just hp. it's entirely possible, the likelihood lies with whether someone would want to hack YOUR printer.

    it also says a virus document needs to be printed to infect the printer...so... don't do that.
