Windows 10: One of my drives aren't within the defragment options but it shows in the disk management.

When running chkdsk commands, or DISM commands, it answers "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable." Is there any fixing this or anything else to try? I've been experiencing moments where my computer would lock up, only audio currently running and my mouse curser continues to work, everything else locks up and practically soft crashes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

defragment an external drive.

I have a drive that lists as a portable drive in computer management. It does not show up on list when I try to defrag it. I believe it is because it's listed as a portable device. How can I get it to defrag without losing all the data on the drive?

Hi Keith,

Thanks for providing the detail that was requested previously. Since the disk management screen that you saw is showing greyed out options, we suggest that you follow the steps below to change the partition type of your internal drive:

• Open Disk Management then right click the partition on the disk you want to covert and select Delete Volume.
• Once you complete the process you will see the whole disk shown as two separate unallocated spaces. Right-click the disk and select Convert to GPT disk.

After the conversion, you will be able to use the whole disk and then you can create new separate partitions.

Windows Defrag

When running defrag, there is a drive listing for Windows RE Tools. It shows as a solid state drive and that it has never been defragged. It will not optimize. Clicking on it does nothing. Any suggestions?
