One of several PCs can't connect to a server in home network- Can't figure out why..

    Hi,

We have a bunch of PCs at home, but just one can't connect to a server. All the other PCs on the networks connect to themselves, and the server without trouble. Just one PC can't (Win 10). The PC in question is running Win 10 Home, the server is running 8.1 (don't ask me why but I can't change that). If I set the server to file sharing without password, then the PC connects without a problem. If PW protection is enabled, which I want it to be, I get an error when connecting: "server not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact administrator..." Then Login Failure: "The user has not been granted the requested login type at this computer" A user name/ password login prompt is never presented. Ive been logging in using the run command, and the IP address of the server.

Somehow there is something different with this PC compared to the others. The problem occurs both on wifi or ethernet connections. There is no account set up on the server to match the account user name on this PC, but I another PC has the same situation, and I can still log into the server with the user name and password. Every device is in the same WORKGROUP, file sharing is on and permissions granted to everyone. The gateway is a regular home wifi+ ethernet gateway for Uverse DSL What am I missing that could keep this one PC from logging onto the server?

    Thanks for you help

    :)

  2. Mobile Me setup problems on a N900 (T-Mobile and AT&T DSL)

    Hi!

On my Nokia N900 phone I can do the following just fine (whether my internet connection is T-Mobile Internet or AT&T DSL via an Airport Extreme):

    • Send and receive Gmail mail (IMAP and SMTP works fine)
    • Receive MobileMe email (IMAP works fine)

What I can't do is send MobileMe email. The N900's email client appears to connect and authenticate with the smtp.me.com server, then it spits back an "unable to send" message.

Also, my MacBook Pro's Mail client works fine on my home Airport Extreme / AT&T DSL network.

    My SMTP settings:

    • smtp.me.com
    • username: (just the part before the @mac.com)
    • secure authentication set to "login" (i.e., "password")
    • secure connection set to SSL & Port 587

I've futzed with the settings to no avail (turned secure connection off, turned secure auth off, etc.). Even as a test I messed up the Gmail settings then set them back to the proper settings and still get Gmail to work, so something is going on where smtp.me.com
is rejecting the email, even though its mac.com email.

    Any suggestions ??

    Thanks in advance !!

  3. Losing network connection

Hello Dear, if you have a laptop or a PC with a wireless network adapter, you can see a list of available wireless networks and then connect to one of those networks. The wireless networks will only appear if your PC has a wireless network adapter installed, the adapter is turned on, and the wireless access point is in range.

    1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections.

    2. In the left pane, under Network Tasks, click View available wireless networks.
In case, If you don't see the network you want to connect to, click Refresh network list. If you see the network but the signal is weak, move the PC closer to the wireless router.

    3. Click the network you want to connect to, and then click Connect.

    4. If you're connecting to a secure network, type the security key, and then click OK.

I Hope you solve out your query soon.
