Windows 10: One of two M.2 drive won’t show in windows

Build new pc z790 motherboard 12900 cpu5070 gpu Samsung 1 TB is seen it have the os. 2 TB is not showing in windows. Is in bios it’s in Samsung wizard as well but I can’t use it or see disk management.

Windows 10 won´t start any program as Administrator

Hello. I´m having this issue since installed one of the latest Windows 10 system updates.

When I try to open any program that requires Administrator confirmation (that screen with the Yes/No question), this dialog won´t appear anymore. The screen background stays darkened and nothing happens.

1. Using Windows 10 Home (x64)
2. My microsoft user account is properly checked
3. I´m the administrator of the PC
4. Already tried do create another administrator user account - same problem, no success
5. Cannot start any program/service that requires administrator authorization (not even regedit)

Please help!

 

m.2 drive not showing up.

so i have a couple of m.2 ssds that arent showing up anymore. they both were in linux systems before. I do know its not the same file systems. but they dont show up using linux either.

for some reason i cant add pictures to the post. so im adding links to them

ive been googling around a little, testing different stuff with no luck. so im hoping someone here could help.

when you click the drive, this error message pops up:

The drives are a Samsung 860 EVO Sata m.2 500gb

and SanDisk x400 m.2 2280 128GB

they are connected via a usb enclosure that uses USB C. it works with other drives i have, that also is sata m.2 drives.

but these drives dont even show up when they are conencted directly to a motherboard. not even in bios as a real drive.

Ive tried the following.

Diskpart

the drive didnt show up. so the tool was basicly useless. not much it could do when its not showing up

GnomeDisk (in linux)

chdsk E: /f /r

did not do anything. no errors but also nothing new happened.

booting from a USB, then looking for the drive via cmd. or terminal, both with a linux usb and a windows one.

Is there anything else i should try? or are these drives dead.

 

Struggling to Install Windows to an M.2 Drive

• MOBO: MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI
  
• CPU: 5600X
  
• RAM: 16GB 3600MHZ DDR4
  
• GPU: PALIT 980
  
• BIOS VERSION: E7C95AMS.2D0
  
• M.2 DRIVE: Crucial P3 Plus 2TB
  
• OTHER DRIVES: None
  

I am currently trying to install windows on my MIL's new m.2 drive in her desktop PC.

When in UEFI mode the bios does not recognise the M.2 as a boot device. It will let me install windows to it, just not boot to it. As soon as the installation reaches the restart stage it reboots the PC back to the boot drive asking if I want to install windows again.

In CSM/Legacy mode the drive is recognised as a boot device but windows will not install to it, stating that the hardware isn't supported.

I am sure I am missing something simple, any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!
