    Hi,

Exactly same problem, using Virgin Media in modem mode, with TP-Link. However, using VM in router/modem no problem.

I too am experiencing this issue. I had been on Windows 10 for a few weeks, but changed to Time-Warner cable in place of AT&T ADSL this past week,(maybe a mistake on my part,...). Anyway, when troubleshooting the connection issues, I began getting this message. Of course TW said it was a problem with my computer, but it sure wouldn't connect. So, the thing that I noticed that seemed to be different from my previous connection settings was the introduction of IPv6. I have now gone in and unchecked IPv6 in my network adapters. I am on the road so not at home so I can test it, but am thinking this might just be the "new" change that could prompt that message, since my PC is a couple of years old, I'm not certain my network cards support this protocol. If someone else is having this issue and unchecking this option it works, let us know.

Try this. Bump the thread if it works so others can see it.

    Thanks everyone.
Still no luck, fine if I connect VM hub in router/ modem mode.

This is definitely a Windows 10 problem.

Not all providers are using IPv6. They are still using IPv4. I have not had any issues using a Cisco RV-320 as my "Edge Router", in front of the U-Verse Gateway that I have. It has been foolproof doing it that way. Especially that the CPU's and RAM is lacking on the leased units.

I too had this problem. I discovered in my case it was due to my antivirus program (Vipre Antivirus). I turned it off and then the problem went away. I realize the problem may be more detailed that this but it is a quick check to see if disabling it temporarily has an impact.

MelRay it is a hit or miss. I got it one time when trying to install a piece of Foscam IP camera software. Nothing else did it on my testing unit.

The SMB 2 & 3 issue was an easy fix.

arisutan the problem is that we cannot just nail the problem down to one particular service. Everyone is getting the problem with different software, or when they are just browsing the Internet.

The proxy issue, you may have to start looking at 7 & 8 as the starting point.

There is no software to install for that device. Are you stating that you went back into the Gateway settings and corrected whatever was wrong?

I personally think it's a bug in Windows 10 -- I have never seen this on other systems

    There is another post that describes clean out of old Network Adapter settings: Basics steps => Regedit =>HKLM =>System => Controlset001 =>Control =>Network =>[Look for key such as --- sample below]HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Network\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Expand each one => your looking for ones that expand to a Folder called "Connection" in side that folder it will give you the connection such as "Ethernet 1, WiFi, Bluetooth ect." match those with the ones in your Device Manager after un-hiding icon's options -- Then you have a chance at getting rid of some old network adapter files.

If you don't understand what I am talking about -- "DO NOT ATTEMPT" -- messing with the Registry is serious stuff.

    Same problem here.

Accidently rebooted my computer => a few pending updates was installed/activated. After that, no network connectivity and I get the "One or more network protocols.....".

I tried all actions proposed here and on other forums, nothing worked. This computer has been running without problems with W10 since I did the upgrade from W7 late november. Since there is nothing much done to the install, I decided to make a clean install....

Downloaded the W10 iso, pushed it to a USB stick, formated the disk, installed. As soon as the network driver is installed, I get the same message again and no network access. Tried all trix and tips again, no success.

=> Now I have a close to brand new computer that cant run Windows 10.

What to do next? The only thing I can think of is to install another NIC and see if that helps. The onboard Killer E220 seem to create problems for people.

Same thing happened to me yesterday. I bought a usb 3.0 ethernet dongle and plugged it in and had internet instantly. Now today Im getting intermittent on/off on/off. It doesnt even see the ethernet cable half the time. It goes through looking for problems, i plug the cable in, then it says network protocol missing. Just a heads up, you might not want to waste your time with a new nic it seems to infect it right away
