  2. I tried most of the plausible solution in this thread. Error details... Windows couldn't automatically bind ip protocol stack to the network adapter.

My fix... I opened network adapter settings, saw that my firewall software had a driver enabled on my network adapter. I disabled the that firewall driver and immediately had internet without a reboot.

I use Comodo for Internet and firewall security. It's free for one, it's not quite as nice as Norton but it get the job done well. I also have firewall hardware as well. Not too worried.

  3. I've just encountered this annoyance! Unfortunately (for me) none of the fixes in this thread have worked. Could it simply be that my router needs replacing?

My opinion: Possible, but not likely. Seems to be a universal Win10 issue.

I was fighting this problem for a month or so until I realized the solution for me was to either extend my router DHCP lease time to a very long period or use a static lease. I originally had a 24 hour lease time and found that when coming out of standby (in the morning typically) I would have this same issue. I would run ipconfig and find I had a default IP address assigned (meaning the DHCP renewal had failed) and if I manually did an ipconfig /renew the issue would resolve itself. For me it appears windows can get in a state where the DHCP lease isn't renewed properly and the machine loses its IP address.

Was an error message noted in the Event Viewer ? If so, do you have the error code number.

  8. One or more network protocols are missing, solution

Once I removed the security software driver from the network adapter properties, I instantly had internet but it was also intermittent after about 30 minutes. I had to completely remove the security suite from the computer. Once removed, I then restarted and I began having a missing protocol error. I used Windows troubleshoot as an easy attempt to fix the new issue as I do for the initial attempt every time I have a problem. To my surprise, it worked and is still holding strong. I now use Windows defender and security software and I have no issues. Some gurus will swear against the Windows security but I've been using for many years and have never had an issue. I changed to Comodo for an online flight group I was apart of because the group coordinator was one of those gurus.

I think the connectivity issues that come with Windows 10 is funneled down to a few things.
    1. Security software with firewall is preventing the communication necessary for network cards to work.
    2. Doing the "netsh int IPv4 install" from an admin command prompt, not sure what this does but it works for some.
    3. Hard reset the router and/or firewall hardware (usually one in the same), some settings you have done and forgot about like setting a static ip for all your devices, may be preventing the communication necessary, most routers are defaulted to use dynamic IPs
    4. Network card driver needs an update. Use a flash drive to get from one internet capable pc to transfer to the one that is not.
I'm sure there can't be too may more things preventing the communication but I am not an expert and really have no what in the world I'm talking about.

Just read over the whole thread. It sounds an awful lot like something is wonky with DHCP to cause the issues as described. That would be spot on if the "high and out of range IP address assigned" in one thread starts with 169.254.x.x. This kind of address reflects Automatic Private IP Address allocation (APIPA is a Windows technology that kicks in when a NIC can't find a DHCP server to give it an IP address: here's an MS Support article on this stuff). I'd suggest anyone else experiencing this kind of issue also investigate DHCP accessibility as well as the other net and reset commands itemized in earlier posts.

I just came home after a two weeks' overseas trip and when I went to the computer I had no Internet connection, and the message 'One or more network protocols are missing'. The computer has been on while I was away, but not being used, so the only thing that can have happened is some automatic update.
I tried the suggestion to use 'netsh int ipv4 install' and then to restart, but that did not make any difference.
    Any other suggestions?

Does ipconfig /all show valid IP info from your dhcp server? Does ipconfig /renew fix it for you?

  14. Well I've tried every solution I've seen thus far and nothing has worked. This error occuring happens at completely random times. I've scanned my registry for errors, no problems. I've replaced my router/modem and am still having this issue. It also is occuring on a tablet, its internet connection gets lost as well. The only thing that gets me back on the internet is unplugging my router/modem and then plugging them back in but the error persists. If anyone knows of other solutions that has worked, feel free to spill the beans..
