Windows 10: Onedrive Access/Permission Problem

The OneDrive icon in the task bar indicates "there is no access permission to item/s". Clicking on icon indicates a problem with Onedrive - Personal, that it has sync issues with Malwarebytes.Ink. This condition just materialized this morning . There have been no changes to the operating system, not have any programs been added or deleted. How can I fix this problem? I t is so annoying to see that little cloud with a red X on top it!

OneDrive folder permissions - Fix


Found the problem.

While you are still listed as the owner of each subfolder in the OneDrive folder, some subfolders no longer have inherited permissions enabled.

If you Enable inheritance and OK for each affected subfolder in the OneDrive folder, it will no longer have any access issues or UAC prompts afterwards.

 

File permissions issue for files downloaded from internet / synchronized by OneDrive

Thank you for replying. If you read carefully you will notice that the problem relates to Windows > Security and Privacy rather than Microsoft 365 > OneDrive. The permissions are different for any file downloaded from the internet and not just those downloaded by OneDrive. I would suggest moving the post back to Windows > Security and Privacy.

1. We are using the OneDrive preinstalled with Windows 11 with a SharePoint back-end with Microsoft 365 Subscription.
   
2. The problem occurs even on local connection without VPN as accessing the files through VPN does not affect the file permissions. As already noted I can access other files in the same location over VPN/local.
   

If there was a way to give required file permissions to files downloaded from internet automatically or if there is a different option of changing the sharing settings, then that would resolve the issue.
