  1. OneDrive appears autonomic regardless of settings. Any one else withe this problem?

I am a retired Environmental Scientist with interests in Computational Pedology, TIN's and finite volumetric element modelling. I have about 8TB of data that has been difficult to obtain for time series comparisons backed up and also in use for GIS applications. OneDrive has been randomly "helping me" by moving data to OneDrive. The GIS models rely on having data in a specific location on my PC. This is large data. Calling data back to my PC takes time and frustration because of software imposed limitations. I bring it back to my PC and it disappear sometime later.

I don't wish to use the data vault.

What i want is a folder on my Desktop called PC2OD and another on my OneDrive also called PC2OD that will synchronize similarly to a mirrored drive.

I do NOT want any other files on my PC "optimized" or "synchronized". I want to manage this through my own manual backup procedures. I want to be able to find files that were sensibly placed within a sensible classification system immediately and not spend time chasing them while they are either "in transit" between PC and OneDrive or in some other random place.

I am aware of some tools in OneDrive but none seem to me to be sufficiently explicit. I'd greatly appreciate having better control over my files.

Also, how does OneDrive handle saved encrypted data eg novel, possibly patentable ideas. Is the mixed PGB/steganography/visual cryptography a problem for OneDrive ie does OneDrive refuse to accept it?

  2. Windows 10 - OneDrive

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

OneDrive not sync, settings not launching

    Hello Rob,

We're sorry to hear the inconvenience you have experienced.

I suggest you to open Settings, through
    Start Menu
or press Windows Key + R,
then type ms-settings: into the run command and hit Enter and check if you are able to open settings.

In case problem still persist, then try the below mentioned troubleshooting steps.

Use the DISM tool and System File Checker for repairing any missing or corrupted system files:

    • Click Start.
    • Type cmd, and then press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to open elevated command prompt (I.e. Command prompt with admin rights).
    • If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and then click
      Continue.
    • Type or copy paste the below command lines one by one into it and hit Enter:

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

    sfc /scannow

To close the Administrator: Command prompt window, type Exit, and then press Enter. Reboot your system to see if problem still occurs.

For issues with OneDrive, I suggest you to post your query in the dedicated OneDrive support forum.

OneDrive appears autonomic regardless of settings. Any one else withe this problem?

    AMD FX OC'ers Club

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
