Windows 10: OneDrive as a collaborative tool with consistent drive mapping

Discus and support OneDrive as a collaborative tool with consistent drive mapping in Windows 10 Network and Sharing to solve the problem; OneDrive is essentially useless for proper collaboration in most creative environments because the software we use AutoCAD / Microstation / InDesign...     OneDrive as a collaborative tool with consistent drive mapping


    OneDrive is essentially useless for proper collaboration in most creative environments because the software we use AutoCAD / Microstation / InDesign etc. all use linked files to work with consistent file paths. So, if I link an image to my InDesign document the file path would be something like "C:\Users\Me\OneDrive\Project\image.jpg" but if someone else opens the same InDesign document the file links will all be lost as the path will be C:\Users\You\OneDrive\Project\image.jpg" or something similar.


    It seems incredible that Microsoft hasn't found a way to solve this basic issue. Google Drive has this capability by creating a "virtual" drive mapping to whatever letter you want. We have solved it in a really hacky way by sharing the user's OneDrive folder and then mapping a path to that folder on the same machine. It works, but the user loses the ability to interact with the OneDrive files in the same way as they would if they were working in it directly ie. seeing sync status, making files or folders available through the "always keep in this device" option.


    Is there any prospect of this functionality coming to OneDrice soon? Without it we can't see how we will be adopting it as a permanent solution given the considerable limitations. Are there any other ways people have found to achieve this?

    Mapped Drives Issues

    To clarify .... the issue is the Windows 10 OS. It is with Windows File Explorer. The Mapped drives used to appear in File Explorer's left panel list of drives and folders. Two days ago File explorer stopped show the mapped drives. so not they don;t appear in the list of Drives and folders.

    I did, it has no effect. I also check the NAS devices they support SMB 2.0. Also I have several other computers on my home network they work fine with the mapped drives and They do not have SMB 1 turned on. So it is something that happened to the computer in question.
