  3. Is there any way to disable the Windows 10 photo app from automatically creating photo albums?

As I said in an earlier post, Microsoft links ALL their services to your Microsoft account. Doesn't matter if you want them to or not, or if you've even used them before...they are ALL linked together.

If you do the following I think this will solve the problem of the automatically created photo albums within the Photos App:

    • Open OneDrive.
    • Go to "Settings", (it will be the cog wheel in the upper right hand corner)
    • Click on "Settings" to open it.
    • Once in settings, click on "Options".
    • Clicking on "Options" will open a menu on the left side of the screen.
    • Scroll down to "Photos" and click to open.
    • You will see this beside Photos: "Create albums automatically when I upload photos".
    • Click the toggle to turn it off.

If you also have OneDrive on your phone (as I do on my Android phone, an S7Edge) do the same thing within the OneDrive App on your phone and turn it off there as well.

I did and I haven't had a new album automatically created since I turned both off in OneDrive. I just downloaded 210 photos last week from a Christmas parade and I haven't seen an automatically created photo album for them yet. Crossing my fingers and
    praying this continues to work.

This has worked for me and I hope it helps anyone interested in getting rid of the nuisance of the automatically created photo albums. Don't worry it doesn't delete any of your pictures in the Photos App or in OneDrive to turn this feature off.

    Hope this helps!

See the blog post below for an explanation of how the photos app and OneDrive work together:

As you can see from this office blog, MSFT is hell bent on continuing to connect all their services to your MSA to satisfy the enterprise side, and consumer users will just have to put up with it and try to find workarounds. What we need is for MSFT to
give users a choice as to what apps/services we wish to have associated with our MSA's, rather than having all this on by default!

    Also Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Automatic Albums does my head in on the Windows 10 Photos App, to the point I ended up removing all picture locations from the Photos App. It sits there in the background going through tens of thousands of photos and constantly pinging up "Hey, we created a new album for you", "Hey, we created a new album for you", "Hey, we created a new album for you". Then you add another batch of photos and again, "Hey, we created a new album for you", "Hey, we created a new album for you". You delete all the albums it's automatically creating and it just keeps creating more and more of them "Hey, we created a new album for you", "Hey, we created a new album for you"...

Dear Microsoft, if you decide to implement something like this that does things automatically, allow the user to turn it off. My albums are already organised exactly how I like them thanks.

And how useful is having them in so-called date order? For one thing, all my older photos were scanned so dates have no relevance at all.
We need them in folder groupings by topic, surely?

And then there is the lack of annotations.......

And then there is Picasa getting its plug pulled......

  9. Nice to see updates to the photo experience

For me I like to organise my photos into folders myself, so i can view them via any app i want and the layout is the same, I assume these auto folders only work on onedrive.com or in the photos app

As for Pokemon, hope this is optional, I never want to see any mention of this while looking at my pictures

Proper display of location would be nice also, "Town, England" is not very useful, needs to show the county, "Town, County"
