  2. Windows 10 - OneDrive

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

  3. Windows 10 software updated this morning and since the Windows embedded apps on the desktop have disappearred

    Ruz,

I followed a number of the suggestions using Powershell.

I noted that this morning I looked at the list of Apps and found all the ones that were previously tiles in the list.

I have individually pinned them to the start Menu and now they are accessible on the Desktop.

I have pinned particular Apps to the Task Bar for easy access.

Thus i can avoid the System Restore.

    Thank you

  4. OneDrive Desktop App not allowing Users to login this morning "Anyone else having this issue?"

    Desktop Logins As New User

Have an issue where my desktop logins act like we're a new user. All document / file directories are gone, etc.

Login this morning was fine. Ran a folder scan prior to installing a new app. Encountered a "Can't open …" message for windows defender so rebooted.

On logging in, observed "welcome to windows" text and something about updates. Then an edge browser page for "Welcome to windows". Desktop is the blue windows image with app icons; not my folders / documents I was expecting.

Checked recovery options and there's a message stating "this option is no longer available because you PC was updated more than 10 days ago." Odd, because the update history shows windows defender security update KB4052623 (Version 3.18.1911.3)
    occurred this morning 1/8/20.

I have a backup connected that requires me to activate when I login. I'm hesitant to do that in case the new login overwrites (it's setup on continuous backup) my old files with this new profile.

Any recommendations on how I can restore my original desktop documents?

    Thank you.

    Jon
