Onedrive Files on Demand Syncing erroneously

Today, I noticed onedrive had redownloaded some files even though Files on Demand was set. I used "clear space" to remove local copies, but it immediately resynced files. Odd thing was it was only some folders or files (even only some of same file extension). Spent ages, moving data, copying etc

I looked through all settings and could see nothing obvious except Office File Collaboration was checked - a facility I do not need. I unchecked the box, and the weird behaviour stopped and I was able to clear space without it resyncing.

EDIT: WTF - I created a new folder, and it uploaded. I cleared space, now whole folder is resyncing. Others seem fine!

    :)

  2. Runtime Broker high CPU usage

Just an FYI I ran into this too and for me, it appears to be due to a combination of settings in the OneDrive sync app . If I choose to let pictures be auto-saved to OneDrive (Settings -> Auto Save -> Pictures -> OneDrive) while also having Files-On-Demand
enabled (Settings -> Settings -> Files-On-Demand), this adds my local OneDrive folder to the pictures library. With the new sync engine having the Files-On-Demand feature however, the pictures are actually stored remotely, which seems to cause the RuntimeBroker
runaway issue. Note that I didn't do anything with any kind of work around - these are both supported features in the OneDrive sync engine app. I'm using version 17.3.7064.1005

Disabling the auto-save to OneDrive feature solved the RuntimeBroker issue for me. If you're running into this issue, you might want to double check your OneDrive sync settings!

    Thanks

I found a fix ....doh....some reason the Files on Demand was ticked in Onedrive hence no folders/files available to sync

    But thanks anyway.

Yep! A couple of other users has reported the same. I did not experience this previously, but lately I have had the same issue.

Some random files suddenly start to sync locally. I suspect it could be that our AV tries to scan something and triggers this weird behavior. Or it could be the Office collaboration as you mentioned.

I think this requires further investigation from MS.

I have since found a fix (courtesy of a regular who I cannot remember - apologies for grey matter getting old).

Uninstall one drive completely using Revo Uninstaller, cleaning up all registry entries.

Then go to onedrive website, and in bottom left corner click on link to load one drive apps. On next screen, click on link to download one drive.

Onedrivesetup.exe then runs. Login and after that, onedrive runs OK.

It seems the deep clean of registry sorts the issue.
