  2. High CPU usage when running OneDrive

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand your concern as you are facing high CPU usage due to OneDrive app on the PC. Let us
know the Windows version and Build installed. (Type
    winver in Windows search/Run command)

Normally, OneDrive will not take so much CPU usage during file sync. In this situation we will check the CPU usage after disabling the telemetry on the PC.

    Steps to disable telemetry.

    1. Press Windows + R to open run command and type
      regedit, then click Ok.
    2. Navigate to this location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DataCollection
    3. Create a new DWORD value and name it
AllowTelemetry. Set its value to 0.
    4. Click on Windows search and type
      File Explorer
      .
    5. Right-click File Explorer and select
Manage to go to Computer Management
    6. On the Computer Management window, go to Services and
      Applications>Services
    7. Look for the following two services. Double click a service and from the ‘Startup type’ dropdown, select the ‘Disabled’ option.
      • Connected User Experiences and Telemetry
      • dmwappushsvc
    8. Restart the PC and check.

Note: Important this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly.
Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

Follow the steps to take backup of
    registry
    .

If the issue persists, then we do have dedicated support team for OneDrive and you can get in touch with them for further assistance. Follow the below steps to contact the OneDrive support team.

Sign in to OneDrive.com from any browser or Open OneDrive App, click the ‘?’ help icon on the top banner of the page and select
Email OneDrive support. Submit your question and follow the prompts to request support.

Windows 10 Display Blinking with High CPU

After upgrade to Windows 10, experiencing flashing display and high CPU.

    • At initial logon screen everything is normal - wall paper and logon screen display with no blinking
    • After logon, fan starts as CPU usage spikes, cursor is accompanied by the spinning blue circle
    • touchscreen does not respond to swipe to access Recovery/Safe mode for reboot
    • able to get to Task Manager and Perfmon to see high CPU usage and explorer.exe is suspended
looking for suggestions on how to either fix or roll back to Windows 8.1
