Windows 10: OneDrive: Local file invalid but Server/Cloud file is valid

By chance I found some image files .jpg on my OneDrive which are invalid on local hard-drive but valid on the server and even valid on other PC...left: valid image blurred for privacy, right: invalid image I renamed it to .bak so that I am able to compare them.Valid:Invalid:I think it is clear that the Windows File explorer can't display such an image, since there is "no data" or just 0 bytes. The size of the file is exact the same valid and invalid.So OneDrive.exe downloaded that file to the local disc but for some unknown reason only 0 byte were received... I wonder that OneDrive

Recent shortcuts for apps show files on OneDrive instead of local hard drive

I was able to follow the steps and uncheck the "Use Office apps to sync" box but it didn't change Office's behavior. I opened and closed an Excel spreadsheet on my local hard drive. After that, when I right-clicked on the Excel icon pinned to the taskbar, a link to the OneDrive cloud file was in the list of recent files instead of a link to the file on my hard drive.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Using OneDrive as cloud storage only - no local copies

Actually it is local files mirrored to your Cloud Drive. If you need more space, you are going to have to use either a external drive on your network or a bigger drive in your computer. If you stop syncing to your local folder, you will have to use just the OneDrive Cloud folder and will risk losing any data if you lose connection, while working with a file.

 

Uber file server build -- suggestions

Uber file server build -- suggestions?

I'm currently in the process of buying stuff for my file server build. Going to try and keep this build all in one thread this time.

Stuff already bought:

• 
  Motherboard (socket 1155 H61)
  RAM (1600MHz)
  PCI SATA cards
  Operating System (Windows 8 + FreeNAS)
  SSD
  CPU (35w Pentium Ivybridge 2.6GHz)

Looking for suggestions on:

• 
  GPU -- use the on-die GPU or buy a PCI-E graphics card (was thinking of a 7750)? My only requirement is that it is able to run 1080p mkv files and play Blurays without a problem.
  Case -- needs to hold as many 3.5" drives as humanly possible (more than 10 at least), while not being too expensive
  PSU -- needs to be able to run over 40 SATA HDDs as well as 6xPCI RAID cards and 1xPCI-E 2.0 RAID card. Silver, Gold or Platinum?
  CPU Cooler -- fanless or not?
  Case fans

That's all I can think of for now...unless I'm forgetting something...oh and one more thing -- I will be buying the hard drives two at a time as I run out of space. Also the PCI-E RAID card will be bought a lot later down the line, as I've only just got enough hard drives for 1 out of 6 of my PCI SATA cards.
