Windows 10: OneDrive Message Center Update November 1st to November 31st

This month, we’ll be rolling out Block Download for Anyone and Organization sharing links as well as updating the MyAnalytics feature on OneDrive mobile. We’re also announcing that Camera Upload for OneDrive on Android is coming out of beta for all users!

Block Download for Anyone & Organization Links

Rolling out in late November

We are rolling out the Block Download feature for sharing links. With this feature, users will now be able to share a link to Office documents that can block recipients from the file, making copies of the file, copying text into other applications or printing. Even with these settings enabled, the user is still able to view the document in Office Online. Users can create links that block download by using the common sharing experience that exists across Office 365. By going into Link Settings they’ll be able to toggle the “block download” option for view-only links. This feature will begin rolling out in late November.

Updates to MyAnalytics on OneDrive for iOS & Android

Rolling out in late November

We are updating the MyAnalytics feature in the OneDrive for iOS & Android apps.

This feature now adds new entry points to the view count and context menus for individual files to make it easier to see everything that’s happening around your files. We are improving the service itself so that view counts are more accurate and will match the analytics that available on OneDrive web. We are also removing the “File trending” signal in this release. You should start seeing these changes in your app in late November.

MyAnalytics Update for OneDrive mobile

Camera Upload on Android is now available!

Available Now

The Camera Upload feature for OneDrive on Android is now available for all customers! Once enabled, this feature will allow users to automatically all photos in the device Camera Roll to a selected OneDrive for Business account*. To enable this feature, go to the “Me” view from within your OneDrive for Business account and tap “Photos”. You will see a prompt like the one below, tap “Turn On” and read the ensuing prompts carefully. This will begin rolling out to customers later this month.

*Please note that OneDrive only supports one account (business or consumer) to be used at a time for the Camera Upload feature.

OneDrive Message Center Updates July 1st-15th

We are excited to announce three new updates coming to the OneDrive desktop client this month. These features will help users feel more in control, empowered to provide feedback, and better educated about what’s happening with their files.

Pause OneDrive sync when Battery Saver is on

Begins rolling out to customers in July 2018

To help conserve battery life on Windows devices, we are making improvements to the OneDrive desktop client to automatically pause sync whenever the device switches to “battery saver” mode.

As soon as we detect that a device enters “battery saver mode” we will automatically pause syncing and show a Windows toast notification informing you of why the desktop client was paused. Once we detect that the device is no longer in “battery saver” mode, OneDrive will auto-resume.

We will also give you the option to ‘Sync anyway’, which will un-pause sync and will respect your selection while OneDrive is running (until you sign-out or exit OneDrive or shut down your device) even if the devices switches to/from “battery saver” mode.

In addition to the toast, OneDrive Activity Center will inform you that OneDrive is paused because the device is in “battery saver” mode

Send Feedback

Begins rolling out to customers in July 2018

You are now able to send positive or negative feedback to us as well as suggest new ideas by clicking on “Send Feedback” under OneDrive desktop client settings/preferences menu from any device running the OneDrive desktop client.

You can send us feedback on what we are doing right or what we need to improve on and address, as well as suggest a new idea by clicking on either “I like something”, “I don’t like something”, or “I have a suggestion”. If you have a suggestion or an idea, clicking on “I have a suggestion” will take you to our UserVoice site where you can submit a new idea or upvote an existing one. If your organization has “Report a problem” disabled, the same policy will also disable “Send feedback”.

We’ve modernized the OneDrive Activity Center to improve ease of use and understanding. The Activity Center is your go-to place for seeing the status of the OneDrive desktop client or to customize your experience. This experience will begin rolling out to customers in late July

OneDrive Message Center Updates July 16th - July 31st

We are excited to announce these updates to the OneDrive service this month. We’ll be releasing some great improvements to the OneDrive Android apps and we’ve reorganized our documentation to make it easier for you to find answers and stay on top of things. OneDrive is making it easier to find relevant documentation by moving all of our to docs.microsoft.com and unifying them in the OneDrive Documentation Hub! This hub will be your home for finding answers to questions, learning more about OneDrive and getting guidance on how to deploy OneDrive in your organization! Even better, docs.microsoft.com is built on top of GitHub so anyone with an account can provide feedback or suggestions on how to make our documentation even better. Update to OneDrive and SharePoint versioning changes

A few months ago, we announced some changes to the versioning experience in OneDrive and SharePoint. Based on your valuable feedback, we will be making changes to the functionality and timing of this feature. We will be providing an option to opt out of the site versioning requirements. More details will be coming to the original versioning blog post and to Message Center so be sure to keep an eye on them!

OneDrive remembers your preferred column sorting

Begins rolling out to customers today

OneDrive now remembers your preferred sorting order across browser sessions. The OneDrive list view allows users to view their files in the way that makes sense to them: by name, by last modified date or even by who made the last modification. OneDrive will now remember your choice, even after you've closed the browser or switched to a different browser entirely. This will begin rolling out to customers starting today.

Improved Upload Progress experience on Android

We know it’s important to manually upload files from your phone to the cloud, but do you ever find it difficult to understand which of your files are currently uploading? We’ve improved the user experience around upload progress in the OneDrive Android application to make it simple to understand which of your files are uploading, and how fast they’re uploading when you perform a manual upload. This change will be coming to the OneDrive Android app in August.

New Scan experience on Android

Begins rolling out to customers in early August 2018

We’ve improved the UX of Scan to make it easier for you to perfect your captures before uploading them to OneDrive. When you scan, you can now add new pages, crop, rotate and color balance the image before uploading it to OneDrive. This change will be coming to the OneDrive Android app in early August.

Improved preview experiences for 3D and large PowerPoint files on Android

Begins rolling out to customers in early August 2018

We are updating the OneDrive app on Android to support the same great preview experiences on the web. Now you’ll be able to view 3D files directly in the app. We’ve also improved the performance for viewing very large PowerPoint files directly in the app. These changes will be coming to the Android app in the first half of August.
