Windows 10: OneDrive said it was full when it wasn't. Tried to fix it, now all my folders are empty....

Hello, sorry for the long post but please bear with me on this, I'm not great with techy stuff and don't know much about how OneDrive works, but this is really upsetting me and I haven't found a solution on how to fix this anywhere else. Sorry if the wording is a bit off too!

Around a week ago I kept getting a pop-up notification on my laptop saying that my OneDrive was 95% full and needed attention. However when I opened my Onedrive online to see if I could make any space, it showed that there wasn't even 1GB used out of a whole 1.1TB, so definitely nowhere near full. I thought it was a problem with syncing or something so I followed some instructions on a forum that someone gave to someone else who seemed to be having the same problem. This involved:

"Press Windows Key + R

In the Run dialog, paste this and hit Enter:

%localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset

Then repeat the process and paste this:

%localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe

Then restart your PC . . . "

So I did that a few days ago, and there was a symbol in the bottom right of my screen next to the clock which showed that stuff was being uploaded to my OneDrive, so I left it to do that until it had finished before turning my laptop off. I didn't use my laptop for a few days after that, until today. The notif about low storage wasn't popping up any more, and I noticed that most of my folders now have little white could symbols next to them. Well today I wanted to open a program (Paint Tool SAI), which I keep in a folder on my desktop named "SAI", except when I opened the folder the whole program was just gone, as well as all of my saved artwork pngs which were within a seperate folder in there too. I look around in my computer file explorer and all of my folders are still there, but literally everything inside them is all gone, including all of my important uni work and pictures. All I have is a bunch of empty folders.

I check on OneDrive online and it's the same case there. Just a load of named folders that are all empty, except for some old files and pictures that I must've uploaded there previously. Now there is a total of 1.75GB used out of a total 1.1TB storage. I went to the OneDrive settings to try and restore my OneDrive to previous date or something, but I won't be able to do that until after 30 days (I had to reset my phone number for verification). I haven't contacted Microsoft Support yet in case it's just something really simple that I've missed, and could be easily resolved if someone were to kindly let me know here

I hope this made sense, I've explained as best as I could! I just need all of my work back as soon as possible as there's lots of important stuff that's gone missing, and any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Skydrive and OneDrive double folder

Hi, BerndCS,

If the files are the same in each, I'd uninstall SkyDrive and leave OneDrive installed.

Found the problem.

While you are still listed as the owner of each subfolder in the OneDrive folder, some subfolders no longer have inherited permissions enabled.

If you Enable inheritance and OK for each affected subfolder in the OneDrive folder, it will no longer have any access issues or UAC prompts afterwards.

 

Windows 10 - OneDrive

Anyone know how to remove "OneDrive - For Business" from the Explorer navigation panel? I've tried just about every registry modification, and windows policy for "Onedrive" but they only seem to work for the consumer product, not for onedrive for business.

The onedrive product alone is so damn annoying and continues to load itself upon startup, even when it's explicitly remove from startup. It continues to automatically load and unload itself from within the startup folder... while I'm actively watching it load itself into the startup folder.
