  1. OneDrive Storage on MicroSD Card (Dell Tablet)

    Hey guys,

This is a strange problem that only seems to happen on Windows 10. I have a Dell Venue 8 Pro, which shipped with Windows 8 (it may have been 8.1, can't remember)
Well, the problem with it is that it only has a 32GB on-board flash memory. After the OS and drivers are installed, there's only about 18GB usable for me.

I have around 16GB worth of files on OneDrive... you see the problem here? And that's only going to get bigger as I add more. So what I did before on 8 and am attempting to recreate now on 10 - I have a 64GB MicroSD card inserted, formatted as NTFS (because in Win8, you could only put OneDrive storage on NTFS, not exFAT or anything else). I made a folder called Danny's Data, and then went into C:/Users/Danny and changed "location" of each folder to that folder. Desktop, documents, pictures, music, videos, etc.

It was able to successfully move the locations there, so when I put any files on my desktop, they're *actually* stored on that MicroSD and not taking up precious flash memory space.

But for some reason, OneDrive refuses to move to it. I tried to change the location using the OneDrive software itself, and it gave me a message saying that location could not be used. I tried creating a symlink and it would give an error saying it "cannot find the files" even though they're obviously there.

I even tried opening up the registry editor, searching for C:/Users/Danny/OneDrive and changing it to D:/Danny's Data/OneDrive (it was in there 3 times, or possibly 4, I forget) and rebooting - got that same error that it can't find the files.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    :)

  2. 0x80070490 Error when attempting to install Store Apps on NTFS microSD?

In Version 1607, every single app that I try to install to the MicroSD card in my Dell Venue 8 Pro 5830 tablet logged in with a MSA, gives an 0x80070490 error code. The apps install fine to the tablet internal storage. Does any at Microsoft have an actual
    fix for this issue?

  3. Virtual Memory on a tablet

    Hi Fredrick,

I realize that you want to use the microSD card for the local cache of the OneDrive files and for the page files. I will try to help you with this issue.

If you are planning to keep the microSD card in the tablet then you can use that card for storing local cache files of OneDrive and also for the page file purpose, however you might encounter performance issues on the tablet.

Keep us informed to help you further.

  4. OneDrive Storage on MicroSD Card (Dell Tablet)

    Hia,
Had Same Predicament with a Linx 8, Tiny Internal Memory, so I wanted to move my Users Folder over to an SD card, but Onedrive hates that, so I had to try an alternative.
I first did this trick with Win8, and the thing seems to work fine after I upgraded with Win10 also.
Though of course effectively moving the users folder I had to do within the Audit mode when I first installed Windows. But just Moving the Onedrive folder there and relocating the folder/s shouldn't be a problem on a running system

Basically I Mounted the SD Card as an NTFS folder in the C: drive, (copy-pasted step-by-step off here because its better than whatever I could conjure up)
    1. Create the directory you want to use on you C: drive. It can be any valid folder name…I did [SkyDrive]. (Here I Did Users)
    2. Right click Computer and select Manage.
    3. Under Storage, click on Disk Management.
    4. Select the drive that is your SD card, on mine it was D:
    5. Select menu option Action -> All Tasks -> Change Drive Letter and Paths…
    6. Click Add.
    7. Select “Mount in the following empty NTFS folder” (should be selected)
    8. Click Browse
    9. Navigate to the folder you created above ( [SkyDrive] ).
    10. Click OK.
    11. Click OK.

Btw if you don't want to see the SD card after this (in My PC, etc), as I didn't on my Tablet, I removed the D: drive letter from the SD card, the only problem I have found is reinstalling, you have to set it up all over again and copy the data to the newly created Users folder, but just OneDrive I would expect you can just create the folder and Mount the card, then point OneDrive there and let it do its job.
