OneDrive stuck "Looking for changes" and my OneDrive folder says to "Make sure OneDrive - Personal is running on your PC, then try again." when trying to open files...even after reformatting PC twice.A few weeks ago my OneDrive stopped syncing to my computer, with the app reporting "looking for changes". No files I add to my OneDrive folder sync to the web and all files that are not stored locally fail to open with an error asking to make sure OneDrive is running. I have reformatted my PC and reinstalled the latest version of Windows 11 TWICE and it still has the same error. Also, when trying

OneDrive "stuck" on processing 2 changes

Thanks for your reply. I’ll admit that I haven’t followed your steps yet, but have some questions:
    1. I am setup with a local account (not Microsoft) with administrator rights. When I added a Microsoft account and logged in, OneDrive synced just fine. On the local account, it “stuck” with processing 2 changes, although the OneDrive folder on my pc and online
were identical. So why is my local account “stuck”?
    2. I noticed, on the local account, that if I checked the “files on demand” box under OneDrive settings, I got a pop-up saying my OneDrive was not connected to Windows. How do I fix that?
    3. I also noticed that on my local account, OneDrive does not start at Windows login, even though I have it checked on OneDrive settings.

In general, it looks like the best choice is to change to a Microsoft account to fix the OneDrive issue. What is your advice?

  3. Recover or Reformat?

    The reformat won't budge?

I did what you said and then was told to remove the CD from the CD-Rom Drive, put in the recovery CD and then press the 'OK' button to continue

So I changed to the next disk but the OK doesn't appear to be being 'pressed'. Yes I have pushed enter on the keyboard which is what I have been using to get me through the other steps..

    Any suggestions?

OneDrive is stuck on "Looking for changes"

Hi Gordon. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 year Windows MVP, and Volunteer Guardian Moderator here to help you.

First try resolving OneDrive Sync problems here:

    http://www.rawinfopages.com/tips/2014/09/fix-mi...

    https://www.windowscentral.com/9-tips-help-you-...

    https://www.thewindowsclub.com/onedrive-sync-pr...

If those don't help then try unlinking OneDrive, restart PC and then open OneDrive from Start menu to sign back in:

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/36246-link-...

If not then Uninstall OneDrive in Settings > Apps > Apps & Features > Microsoft OneDrive. Restart PC.

Then reinstall OneDrive from a fresh download here:

    https://onedrive.live.com/about/en-us/

If this fails then go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done:

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account. Then continue
with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

If nothing else helps you can run a Repair Install by installing the Media Creation Tool and choosing from it to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows in about an hour while saving your files, apps and most settings, solves many problems while also bringing
it up to the latest version 1903 which you need anyway and by the most stable method.

    .

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you will wait to rate my post, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
