Windows 10: OneDrive syncing my desktop without my request!

For years I have OneDrive and use it only to store some selected folders. Today, suddenly, all my desktop icons had a green checkbox and from what I figured out it means that these folders were synced to OneDrive. Why, if I never enabled syncing my desktop?Question 2 - I don't want a copy of all my folders on OneDrive. Where are they stored? I went to OneDrive and can't find them. How can I delete the copy that was saved on OneDrive?By now I quit the OneDrive app and changed the settings so it doesn't start automatically when I restart the computer.Note: I selected to post this in Windows/File
