[Onedrive & win10]]Want to completely Move temp and cache folder to external harddrive and...

Most of Pc and laptop using SSD now, but it could be dead really fast if u keep deleting and writing stuff rapidly.

I am using Onedrive on my tablet and laptop, and there is a preinstall SSD hard drive, it is almost impossible for unprofessional and normal people like us to replace it, some tablet is completely sealed, there r no screws out there on the back side of tablet and we cant easily to just open it up and replace a new SSD if old SSD is dead.

In order to avoid the Pre-install SSD in my tablet become dead pretty quick, when I selecting the Onedrive folder to an external SSD hard drive folder as a destination. however it is very sad to see there is still a CRAZY and a massive reading and writing at local hard drive(C:/ ***temp folder *** or cache folder and some ******* still located in C drive) if u tracking the Onedrive process using the resource monitor.

I tried to set the OneDrive temp folder or cache folder to an external drive, but It would automatically change back to local drive(C:/) immediately or after a period of time, it might coz by disconnecting an external hard drive, and it would not change it back to the external path if reconnect the hard drive.

We wish if there is an human friendly option for setting it, somewhere at the panel, such as setting a list of cache folder, set a default destination..and priorities, it would minimize the I/O at local drive(C:/), and oly do the writing-reading stuff when the application needs to updates on C drive, we believe it is technically possible, and it can prevent those things happening:

    1. when the SSD is about to die and which runes the current operating system, it wont crash immediately, it start making some data unreadable, and soon we got an error blue screen...and might lose some valuable files.

    2. when there are a large reading and writing at C drive, it slows the system down and because the hard drive is busy, higher CPU usage is acceptable but making the C drive busy can be avoided. especially for people who still using HDD.

    3. Most of the people might start to throwing the whole PC or laptop, and they donno it is just because SSD is dead, it is not environmentally friendly, and we still living on earth so it has to be stopped...

And btw Can u please add a feature into Windows spaceagent? something like allocatate more reading and writting behavir at a specfic drive, escepcially for widows temp folders.. cache folders.., if some operation need to do some rapid read& write at hard drive and have to storage it at main drive, just copy it back to main drive once the reading and writing are done.. it would be very useful such as BT downloding.. and if the external drive sudden dead or DC, just retry those reading and writting stuff again at main driven instead.

    Using Steam as an example..

please give me a reply.. and please donttttt just copy answer from another question..

    Thank you!

    :)

OneDrive is now the main reason causing SSD to die very fast, at least for me... Can u tell them to put an option on the panel and allow people to change the OneDrive temp& cache dir to another destination,
and set more than one folder.

and another thing about OneDrive, we oly can transfer one file at the same time via Onedrive, if we use it at a public internet, normally there is a high ping but it has a good bandwidth, transfer or update
a small amount of file like hundred or 10k of file would taking a days.. can u please put a option on panels for changing the thread limit while trasfer.. limiting the number of thread would not stop from people uploading or downloading files they want, because
they paid for it and they want their job done.

please give me a reply.. and please donttttt just copy the answer from another question..

    Thank you!

    OneDrive Temp Folder

I have my local OneDrive folder on an external drive. My online OneDrive is about 255 GB. The problem is, it is syncing to two folders on my external drive:

    1) G:\OneDrive

    2_ G:\OneDrive Temp

Obviously, it is taking a very long time to sync to both locations and is doubling the size of the used space on the drive. How do I remove the OneDrive Temp folder?
