Windows 10: Onenote UWP on Win10 (Version 16001.11231.20118.0) Search is Slow (minutes) and Onenote...

This started happening after Onenote 10 updated this morning on my Surface Pro 4. Before the update, search was fast and my life was just perfect!


My current release is Version 16001.11231.20118.0


After the update ...

1. Search averages 30-60 seconds on same search keywords I used before the upgrade
2. Shortly after I start a 'control+e' search, the fans goes off and onenote is at 60% CPU
3. My life is not perfect anymore!

What happened Microsoft?


And I do not know why is MS not sharing with users a release history note explaining what features, changes, or bugs get introduced with the new update. The Windows store does not describe this info.

I understand how difficult it is, when the system doesn't work in the way it should, we will look into this for you. As you have mentioned that this issue began after OneNote was updated, we can try few steps and check if we can fix this.

I'd suggest you to refer this article on
Fix problems with apps from Microsoft Store and try the suggestions 4,
2, and 3 in the same order and check if it helps.

Is OneNote 2016 similar to the OneNote that was part of Office 2010?

I always get the upgrade notice when opening MS OneNote 2010 and always dismiss that. I don't need any extra facilities of any later version, and the look maybe different. This is a Desktop application.

That did not change with Windows 10.
If you look in the All Programs list you will find "Microsoft OneNote 2010" in the Microsoft Office folder.
You can make a Tile, Taskbar icon, Desktop shortcut as before.

You are probably starting up the UWP version which is part of Windows 10. That looks very different.

Yet another version, the online OneNote which looks rather similar to the UWP version.

It is confusing having access to 3 versions.
