Windows 10: OneNote2016 and OneNote for Windows 10

I'm a major OneNote addict - since about 2007 I think. I also do a fire lookout in the summer and have no cloud service, so have been using 2016 on my SurfacePro1 for many years. That allows me to use the OneTastic macros from Omar Atay, which are invaluable for constructing reference trees and the like. All of my notebooks are kept on a 2TB WD external drive have to, since no Internet in a local OneDrive presence, which seems to update automatically when I return from the lookout in the fall.

I don't want to give up using the macros in 2016, but do want to continue syncing with OneDrive, e.g., using OneNote on my iPhone.

If I can't do that, I will stick with 2016. I have thousands of paper-length pages with cross references across 35 years of writing I can't afford to lose.


My question: If I upload all of my locally stored notebooks to the cloud, will I still be able to access them from OneNote2016 with the OneTastic macros intact? I need to know one way or the other before doing anything about uploading my local files to OneDrive in the cloud.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Send to onenote

Hi,

It may be an issue with the add ins in OneNote, we suggest that you disable OneNote add-on and enable it. To do so, follow the steps below:

• Open Internet Explorer.
• Click Manage add-ons.
• On the left pane, click Toolbars and Extensions.
• On the right hand side of the page check for Send to OneNote add-on. Highlight
  Send to OneNote and click on disable.
• Once the add-on is disabled highlight the add-on again and enable it.

Note: To enable the File menu in Internet Explorer press the
Alt key on your keyboard.

You may also perform an online repair in Office 2007, to do an Online repair, follow the steps below:

• Press Windows + X.
• Click Control Panel.
• Click Programs and Features.
• Right click Microsoft Office, click Change.
  
• Choose Online repair.
• Follow the on-screen instructions.

How Can I Download OneNote2016 to my Windows 10 Laptop

As I said, I already have OneNote on my Windows 10 machine. The reason why I want 2016 is that it has a better user interface. It is much more user friendly IMHO. So how can I download OneNote2016 that is part of Office 365 2016 which I have on my Surface
Pro.

Or, is there a way to change the user interface to be more like 2016? That is all I want.
