Windows 10: Only 1 of my 2 monitors works after October Win10 Update on Desktop Computer

Please read the following carefully - I have tried every suggestion about this issue that I could find!


1. Both monitors come on during "Boot up" POST

2. Both monitors show the blue "Windows" Logo

3. Immediately at the "Sign IN" screen, one of my monitors goes black.


What this shows is that my cabling to the monitors is fine, the display adapters (Cross-fired) are working, the monitors are working; thus the likely culprit is the latest Win 10 update (called the "October" update).


I also get the following note: "Device DISPLAY\SAM0B47\5&215582e6&0&UID516 was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match."


Other info:

My 2 video cards are brand new (Asus RX-570's)

My motherboard/Processor/Memory are brand new (Asus Prime Z390-A/Core I7-7800/32GB DDR4)

All drivers are new.


My rebuilt system worked perfectly for 2 days and only stopped with the latest Windows update. (It's most unfortunate that this update occurred right after I had finally gotten my system tuned out --Grrr!!!)


Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. As I stated I've tried about everything.

Detect/roll back updates/check drivers/fiddle with UEFI/etc,etc,etc

Trouble with 2 monitors

I suggest you to change the settings to Extended Monitor and check if it helps.

Please follow below steps:

• Right Click any ware of the Desktop, and launch Personalization.
• Go to dual monitor settings under personalization, and change it Extended Monitor.

Win10 keeps resetting 2 monitor desktop settings

• Are you logged in as Administrator account?
• Have you made any changes in the computer prior to this issue?

I suggest you to update all the pending Windows updates and also check the issue in safe mode. Check if it helps.

Method 1: I recommend you to update all the pending Windows updates and check if it helps.

1. Click on Start Menu.

2. Then click on Settings.

3. Click on Update and Security.

4. Then select Windows updates.

5. Check for the latest Windows updates.

If the issue still persist, refer to the method below.

Method 2: I suggest you to boot the computer in safe mode and check if the display settings retained in it or not.

Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

When in win10:

• Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....

Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
- Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.
