Windows 10: only 1 xbox controller works at a time

I have 4 Xbox controllers that I have previously used with windows 10. 2 are older wifi models and 2 arebluetooth. wireless wasn't great with any so had just been using them wired.


I have recently reinstalled windows 10 and tried to use them for the first time in a while. drivers were automatically installed. 2 were connected and working fine for a few minutes then one dropped out.


now I can only use one at a time. the first controller will light up automatically and work but any others will remain off until I push the button then blink as if needing pairing, despite the USB cable. any controller works if only one at a time, which USB port does not matter.


I have installed the xbox accessories app and it can detect one controller at a time. I was able to update firmware for the two bluetooth controllers no updates for the others but not change in behaviour even trying to get just these 2 to work.


would love to get at least 2 working, but ideally all 4 again. I have trawled the web for answers but found nothing that deals with when they all work individually. other answers around manually installing drivers and other fixes if not pairing at all have not helped note that I do not have an xbox but do not wish to use wirelessly so shouldn't need to use one to repair


any advice? at this stage I think I might be better of with some no frills logitech f310 controllers.

Xbox Controller is not connecting to Wireless Adapter

I appreciate your time and patience to work on this issue. To have a better clarity on the issue please reply to the following questions:

• Are you using an Xbox one controller?
  

If you are using an Xbox one controller, I suggest you to refer the steps in the article

How to connect an Xbox One Wireless Controller to a Windows PC and see if that helps in resolving the issue.



I would also suggest you to uninstall all the hidden devices under USB hive and check if you are able to connect the wireless adapter. Please follow the steps mentioned below to uninstall the hidden drivers:

1. Press and hold the Windows + X key on the keyboard.
   
2. Select Device manager.
   
3. Click View tab.
   
4. Select Show hidden devices.
   
5. Expand Universal Serial Bus and remove all the greyed out devices. To remove the greyed out devices, right click on the device and select
   uninstall.
   
6. Restart your computer.

Can’t connect Xbox one controller to pc

Initially, we need to pair the device to show up in the list while connected through Bluetooth. Check with the below mentioned steps and see if it works.
