Windows 10: Only a weird metallic sound is hearable when i plug in my mic. What can i do to check where...

I have zero clue if this the right sub for this question but here we go:

Only a weird metallic sound is hearable when i plug in my mic. So obv. i tried another mic. and it didn't work either aka. only this weird metallic sound was hearable. Therefor it can only be the jack input or software i thought?! Am i correct? How to check where the problem is?

Edit.: More Info:

• If i use my external USB webcam as a mic it works like it always did
• if i go to sound and device properties the bar is on a full 100 / 100 which seems odd

The issue could be because of the internal mic picking up sound even when the external device is pluuged in. If you have the RealTek HD Audi Manager installed on the machine, I would suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works for
you.

• Open RealTek HD Audio Manager and go to the
  Advanced tab.
  
• Check the boxes Separate all input jacks as independent input devices
  and Mute the internal output device, when external headphone is plugged in,
  and hit OK.
  
• Exit RealTek HD Audio Manager, restart the machine and see if the issue persists.

Sound mutes when mic is plugged in

When I was using Windows 8.1 I was able to listen on headphones while my USB microphone was plugged in. In theory this is a bad thing because of the time delay between recording with the microphone and the sound being played back. However, this was not an
issue since the microphone sound was not monitored while recording. It meant that the microphone could be plugged in permanently except when the audio line input was being used.

Since upgrading to Windows 10, all sound is muted when the mic is plugged in. Apart from the slight inconvenience of having to unplug and replug the mic every time I need to record, I'm also concerned about potential wear and tear on the USB plug and socket.
Is there any way to unmute the sound?
