Windows 10: Only have output talking via Headset, can't hear responses

    Only have output talking via Headset, can't hear responses


    We have tried several headsets in front jack plug of AMD A8-7600 tower with windows 10 on it, and can't hear any sound coming back all of it has worked previously but not sure what settings we need to check or alter to get it working again, obviously we've changed something but unsure what.

    Good surround sound headset

    I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue Only have output talking via Headset, can't hear responses :p

    Mic picking up audio output from headset.

    They are not playing around, I recorded and tested it myself, and I could hear stuff from my pc, and I only use my headset when I need them. And i dont know what you mean by "chat running" we use discord to talk, and where can i check if its set to listen everything?

    cortana won`t talk to me

    It's unfortunate that you are facing this issue. Let me assist you to resolve the issue.

    I appreciate if you could answer few questions to narrow down the issue and to provide you better assistance.

    • Check and verify if Cortana is activated?
    • Does Cortana search and gives any output/result on screen?
    • Is the Language and region settings set to valid value?
    • Check and verify if Cortana available in your region?
    Method 1:

    I suggest you to try to turn Cortana off and then try turning it on back and check if she talks. Refer to the steps below to turn Off and On Cortana:

    • Open Cortana.
    • Click the hamburger button in the top left of the window.
    • Go to Settings and click on off.
    • Follow the same steps to turn it on.
    • Check if issue persists.
    I would suggest you to refer to the article given below and check if that helps.
