Windows 10: Only system sound works and literally nothing can fix this problem

    Only system sound works and literally nothing can fix this problem


    For the past few days, the only sound my laptop makes are system sounds. All games and other media doesn't make any noise at all. I've tried everything the internet throws at me to solve the issue and nothing is working.


    I've checked for updates, auto and manual, nothing is available.


    I've run the troubleshoot sound thing. It says everything is fine.


    Every time I try to roll back my driver, device manager crashes but it seems like it did roll back. (It doesn't give me the option to anymore at least) So I reset my computer but sound still doesn't work.


    Updated it again. What a surprise, still doesn't work.


    Everything is running in the right ways out the right speakers and blah blah blah.


    Literally nothing works.


    I even set my volume at max out of desperation before doing everything I can again.


    Nothing.

    Works.

    Programs not working


    In post 26 there were steps listed to fix the operating system corruption.
    Are you able to follow them?
    In post 29 was the suggested dism repair command.

    Please answer these questions to assist you better.

    • Have you install all driver updates?
    • Do you get any error message?
    • In which browser are you facing this issue?
    • What is the make and model of your computer?

    • What all the troubleshooting steps have you tried to resolved the issue?
    • What is the exact issue are you facing with sound?
    • Are you getting any error message?
    • Have you installed all the pending Windows updates?

    I suggest you to follow the below methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1: I suggest you to install all the latest pending Windows updates as below and check if it helps.

    • Go to “settings” and click on “update and security”.
    • Under tab “Windows update”, click on the icon “check for updates”.
    • Then once you find the pending updates install it and check.
