Windows 10: Onscreen touch keyboard not appearing when using assigned access account - 1909

Hello,


We are using a Dell Optiplex 3030 AIO as a kiosk PC for our students to use, however we only want them to use it for browsing.


I have set up an account using assigned access, and using it as a public browser.


As this PC is touch screen being an all-in-one we want it to be used by only the touch screen no mouse and keyboard connected.


When we try to touch the address bar / or search box on google the onscreen touch keyboard does not appear which basically makes the whole kiosk pc useless.


I have enabled tablet mode on the local admin account through Settings --> System --> Tablet mode ... however it doesn't seem to apply on the kiosk account that i have setup.


Is there something i am missing, or if anyone can advise what to do that would be great as it is really bugging me!

Touch screens

I can do 60 words per minute on my phone, perhaps more now as I've got used to the phone. ( htc desire z, using the stock onscreen keyboard)

Touch screen + predictive text I recon I could equal my keyboard typing speed. Maybe beat it depending on how advance the predictions are.

( hard to use predictive software on traditional keyboards as there is no way to quickly choose the suggested word, where as touch screen keyboards can have the suggested words appear above the function keys)

How are you bringing up the keyboard?

For me, I right click on the Taskbar and select Show touch keyboard button, then when I click on that I get the Onscreen keyboard at the bottom of the screen and it looks like this:

 

Onscreen touch keyboard not popping up

My onscreen touch keyboard never pops up in any text field. I have tried almost all the troubleshooting steps found on thos forum.but nothing has worked so far. Pleaae help : )
