Windows 10: Oops, something went wrong with MS account signing

Hello,One day my PC signed me out from all the MS services including my PC account. When I click sign in I only get something went wrong error. On the browser, on pc, Xbox app, store. Then I changed to Windows 11, to start from fresh, didn’t work. I’m still getting something went

Thank you, for the guidance. I followed the steps and continue to have issue that I can not add MS Account to "Your Info" or log into MS under Administrator profile. Continue to get window "Oops something went wrong, probably our fault." And "Try again" doesn't solve it. Any other suggestions?

"Oops - something went wrong" when trying to sign in to a Microsoft account

I created a local account for my son on a Windows 10 machine and now wish to sign in to a Microsoft account instead.

I fill in all the necessary details and click 'next' but instead of logging him in to his MS account I get an error message saying "Oops - something went wrong. Whatever happened, it's probably our fault. Try again."

I called MS support and was told to type "netsh int ip reset" into an elevated command prompt. This made no difference. Then the MS support guy told me that if I wanted to try other avenues to resolve the problem, I would have to pay for support.

I have been able successfully to carry out precisely this procedure for another local account on the same machine, so I cannot understand what the problem can be with my son's account.

 

Signed in with correct MS account -- how 2 remove wrong one

So I was setting up my new PC and accidentally signed in with wife's MS account. Logged out, signed in with mine, and all looked well UNTIL I learned my user folder is named after wrong account.





That first folder should read 'scree' from the correct user. When I look up users on this PC I see this --





The good news is that I'm the big circle and listed as Admin. That parrot represents the wrong account. I can't quite find how to remove it and, if I did, would it fix the 'bills' user folder issue?

My years on Macs have taught me to be UNBELIEVABLY CAREFUL in this type of situation.
