I think the title sums up this annoying issue, but I'll elaborate anyway for the sake of clarity:When I right click on a program in the Start menu and click on "Open file location" it should, by right, open the location of the file, but it never does. It always opens the location of the shortcut instead For example: C:\Users\*name*\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs or C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Program.It's really annoying when you have to repeat the process twice for absolutely no reason. I mean, nobody ever wants to open the list of start menu

    :)

Open file location is missing in pinned apps

    ,
No, that's not the sort of 'file location' the OP is referring to. Your 'file location' opens File Explorer at the location of the shortcut for that app in the Start Menu's Programs folder. The OP wants the list of recently opened files, or the Jump List as it is known (hover over each one and it shows its file location). Theirs is turned off (and yours by the looks of it).

    tile open file location

If that tile was created with Edge, there won't be a shortcut to it.

    Open file location

when i right-click on a shortcut icon and select "open file location", instead of a normal explorer window opening, the CMD window displays. it
only happened after i updated my Windows 10.This did not happen previous
    to that.
