    Open program stuck on 2nd display after it is turned off


    I had a 2nd display monitor connected to my Surface Laptop 4 Windows 10. I recently replaced this laptop with a newer Surface Laptop 4 Windows 11. With the old laptop, whenever I had programs opened on both displays Display 1 = laptop and Display 2 = 2nd monitor, all the programs would be displayed on Display 1 after I turned off Display 2. However, with the new laptop, when I turn off Display 2, the programs that are open on it stay there. So when I'm only using the laptop, I can't close any of the programs that were open on Display 2.Example: I had an Excel file open on Display 2 an

    My computer seems to be stuck displaying only the wallpaper and taskbar but no programs will open

    None of the programs will open, not even settings. My computer is stuck on the wallpaper, all the shortcuts on said wallpaper have disappeared, everytime I click open any program its icon registers on the taskbar but will not be displayed. I have turned
    it off, disconnected all power and wires then turned it back on again but nothing is still happening. Tried that twice and now my computer is just stuck on the hp display logo that appears mid-starting. Help me please.

    Display does not turn off when pc is idle

    Just did all the suggestions. Did not work. Display does not turn off.

    This issue was from the beginning when I downloaded Win 10. I had Win 8.1 and the display always turned off as I set it.

    My pc is HP Pavilion Touchsmart 23 all-in-one. According to "checking for updated drivers on display and monitors", I always get the response that the drivers currently installed are the correct ones.

    Thank you for keeping us updated.

    I understand that you want the programs to be running with turned off display.

    I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

    • Press Windows + X keys and select the Control Panel.
    • Select Power options by searching in search box.
    • Left Pane select Choose when to turn off the display.
    • Select the Time to turn off the display. Click Save Changes.
    • Check if the issue resolves.
