  1. Open windows are all downsized and moved when brought out of Sleep Mode - DP versus HDMI...

It's a new Windows 10 based PC(ASUS Z390-A Mainboard) with a new single color monitor (BenQ SW720C). When the monitor and PC are connected using an HDMI cable, everything functions fine. When awakened from Sleep mode all open windows remained in their exact locations and sizes on the display. However when the mointor and PC are connected with a DisplayPort cable, when awakening from Sleep mode, all of the open windows are downsized and stacked on top of each other at the top left corner of the monitor. The manufacturer of the monitor claims the issue is in the control of Microsoft. Does anyone have an idea what in Windows 10 is responsible for the activity and if it is resolvable?

Has anyone else encounter this issue with a similar configuration?

    Thanks and regards, MM

    :)

  2. Lumia Display Dock and HDMI to VGA adapter

    just to understand some constraints:

    • HDMI is electrically compatible with DVI
    • DP outputs from most PCs have an HDMI compatibility mode that allows for:
      • DP-to-HDMI passive adapters [passive means it just uses wiring (no ICs) between the connectors]
      • DP-to-DVI passive adapters
    • In contrast, the USB Type-C output on the Lumia 950XL/950 phone and the DP output on the Display Dock do not have HDMI compatibility mode. To drive HDMI, DVI (or VGA), they require active adapters incorporating bridge ICs. The tipoff is usually that such
an adapter costs $20-$40 instead of ~$10 for a passive adapter. There’s no good way to tell active versus passive other than by part # and spec.

  3. open the desktop from sleep mode

    Hi Abhishek,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft community.

To understand the issue better, I suggest you to answer the below questions.

    • How are trying to start the computer from the sleep mode?
    • Since from when are you facing this issue?
    • Did you make any changes prior to the issue?
    • Are you able to shut down or restart the machine?
    • What happens when you try to come out of Sleep mode?
I would suggest you to force shutdown the computer and start the computer and check what happens.

If you are able to login to normal mode then follow the below steps to restore the power setting/plan to default.

    • Press Windows + X keys, and select the option
      Control Panel.
    • Click on the Power Options icon.
    • Click on Change plan settings.
    • Select the option “Restore default settings for this plan”.
Please post us back with more information and if the issues resolves to help you better.

Open windows are all downsized and moved when brought out of Sleep Mode - DP versus HDMI...

W10 Moving Windows to Monitor 1 After Waking.

From my understanding is DP treats sleep differently than HDMI/DVI/VGA. When a monitor goes into sleep mode is loses the handshake it had. And when it does that, the things that are suppose to remain on that monitor move. Though kind of weird since only my windows were moving and not my icons?

Like I said I was running DP to a VGA converter and had no issues. But that ran through a digital to analog converter. Where as DP to HDMI is just a adapter cable. Not many use VGA anymore, but I wonder if a DP to DVI would have the same effect as DP to VGA?

Though I'm interested in what happens with your Fury. Both monitors are DP it sounds like. They both shuffle things around when they go to sleep?

Well, bad news. Came back home today and all windows were moved back to my main monitor. So I'm now clueless. Right now the second monitor is using my DVI Port and still does it, strange.
