Windows 10: Opening a folder when dragging a file over it

Granted its been a while since I've used windows regularly sometime around windows xp but I recall being able to drag a folder/file over a folder and it would automatically open that folder if you hovered over it for a short period. Is this just no longer a feature? I've not been able to find a way to change this in the settings.Thanks!

Why does Windows 10 exit to parent folder up on dragging a file to a network folder?

Can you provide some reproduction steps so I can test it out in the lab? Correct me if I have this wrong:

• Open network folder ( \\server\folder\subfolder )
• Take a file from desktop, and drag it into the openeed folder
• The opened folder will jump up a level (to the "folder" in this example) after releasing

Is that right?

the steps you suggested didn't work for me but, when pressing the escape key it somehow expanded the drive and by using drag and drop to the single file in the list worked.

In the past I could drag and drop multiple folders onto the drive on the network computer(s). Doing it on individual folders will take far too long and time consuming and is not an option.

Microsoft should be able to identify what is blocking it and issue a fix.

My machine is multi boot so tomorrow I will try with Windows 7.
