    Opening File Explorer or THIS PC causes sleeping HDD to wake


    So I noticed somewhat recently on Windows 11 that whenever I open "THIS PC"/File Explorer in order to browse my files, it automatically wakes my sleeping HDD. Before, it would only wake the hard drive if I attempted to browse the hard drive itself. Any ideas how to get this back to how it was before? On top of the unnecessary stress of waking a sleeping drive trying to minimize wear, it's a bit annoying having to wait a few seconds for the drive to spin up every time I open File Explorer.

    Sleep / Wake Function, malfunctions after waking

    Hi,

    Issues that arise after waking up the PC from sleep mode might have been caused by a software conflict or system file corruption. For us to clarify the issue, we would like to ask these questions:

    • What is the exact issue that you are experiencing?
    • Did you notice any recent system changes prior to this issue?
    • Have you encountered any error message?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

    If you are having issues waking your PC from sleep, we suggest running the
    Power troubleshooter     as an initial troubleshooting. Kindly follow these steps:

    • Click on Start.
    • Type Troubleshoot, and then press Enter.
    • Under Find and fix other problems, click on Power.
    • Click on Run the troubleshooter button.
    • Follow the onscreen guide.

    Why does File Explorer always open on start up from sleep mode?

    Itried your suggestions to correct the problem however the situation still persists.

    File Explorer opens on wake up

    Every time I wake my PC from sleep mode file explorer opens twice.
    I have W10 home edition V1903

    It's not much of a problem more a nuisance. Are there any quick fixes please?
