Windows 10: Opening PDF's and outlook messages take up to 10 minutes to open through our business...

Updated desktop users to Windows 10 version 1803 feature update and when they go to the attachments in our business system (Solar Eclipse) it can take up to 10 minutes to open a PDF or Outlook message file that is stored on our network server windows 2008 shared folder. It does not matter the PDF viewer you use for instance Adobe, Foxit, PDF viewer in Microsoft store and Sumatra it still can take up to 10 minutes to open the PDF document.


In version 1709 this was not an issue and do not know what could have changed when upgraded to version 1803 to cause this issue on opening attachments from our business system and looking for some help in solving this issue since it stops customer service from helping customers when they are on the phone with them and just being able to look at a file.


I have gone into Adobe and make changes per what they recommend to have PDF's to open sooner along with installing smb2 on the Windows Server 2008 to try and fix the issue.


Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Windows 10 - Outlook Hyperlinks and PDFs Opening in Edge Not Chrome

I want to once again use Chrome for URLs and Adobe Reader for PDFs, but lost this after a Windows 10 auto-update.

I now too have the situation where PDFs in emails I receive in Outlook (2010) open in Edge, and when I attach a PDF to an Outlook email it shows as an Edge doc. Also, URLs in Outlook Emails open in Edge. PDFs and URLs other than in Outlook open with my
preferences.

I've reset all the defaults I can find to associate PDFs with Adobe Reader and URLs to Chrome. Also tried the suggested regedit change. Didn't help at all.

My Set Default Programs don't show Microsoft Outlook, just:

• Microsoft account
• Microsoft Edge
• Microsoft family restrictions
• Microsoft Solitaire Collection

Control Panel shows I have both Microsoft Office Click-to-Run 2010 (which includes Visio) and Microsoft Office Home and Business 2010 - English (which includes Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint).

• Does the issue persist in Edge browser?
• Do you get similar error when you open the PDF file in Adobe reader?

Check if you are facing similar issue in Edge browser.



Step 1: Open PDF file in Adobe reader and check if you are facing similar issue.



To open PDF file directly from Adobe reader, follow the steps below:

• Open Adobe application and click on Edit.
• Click on Preferences and select Internet.
• Uncheck Display PDF in Browser option and check if you are able to open the PDF file without getting the error code.

Step 2: If you are able to open PDF file in Adobe reader, I suggest you to
Turn off Internet Explorer,
enable it again and check if the issue is resolved.

outlook opens word?

I have asked about this problem just about everywhere. well what is happening is when we open a new message in outlook it opens what looks like the shell of word that takes up a entire monitor ( it’s a four monitor system ). You cannot close the "shell" but if you close the message it will close.
Winword.exe is not running in the processes but word shows up in the application tab
It is the office 2k7 suite
If anybody has seen anything like this any help would be greatly appreciated
Also if you need to know anything else about the system please let me know.
